Curved Air...Melinda (More or Less) live 1972

I found this lovely ballad on Youtube whilst looking at one of Boneman's videos...it is old, 1972 and features the sweet voice of the beautiful Sonja Kristina, she is the singer with the UK band which goes by or went by the name of Curved Air...dont know exactly why but the song appeals to me for its melody and simplicity... ♥

Lovely lady falling
laughing down the glory
of a rainbow
lovely lady reaching
crying for the comfort
of the day-glow
Melinda - more or less
Melinda - more or less
in dreams

But if and when
she wakes again
she knows it all
begins again
sleeping, waking,
rising, falling
dumb but calling out
to deafened friends
that's how it ends
For Melinda - more or less
in dreams

Fade - Melinda
fade into fantasy
tell them you won't be played
like any other
instrument of fate
fade - Melinda
into your fantasy
tell them you're not
prepared to wait for
your dream of the end
Melinda - more or less
in dreams

Lovely lady falling
laughing down the glory
of a rainbow
lovely lady reaching
screaming for the comfort
of the day-glow
Melinda - more or less
Melinda - more or less
Melinda - more or less

Yes Boney dear, I guess like curved light, light which is bent by gravity...a lovely and sweet voice. ♡

Kind of like the curved time-space continuum. No songs about that so far...

lovely song... one of my favourite musicians, keyboardist Eddie Jobson, got his start in this band... has a bit of a Fairport Convention sound to it...

thanks for the video link... there are a few pictures from Ireland in my other MySpace photo albums, btw...

Thanks dear Foamie , it is a lovely song and Sonja does have a sweet voice... I think it has a clear quality like that of Agnetha Fáltskog from ABBA when they first started out in 1974. ♡

Gosh I heard some great songs from the past today, I went to my grandson's education week singing and dance spectacular (he's in kindergarten)...Walk like an Egyptian, Mamma Mia, Monster Mash, Echo Beach, YMCA, Riverdance, Hey Macarena too many to mention, it was a fantastic show Kindy to year 6, the children had so much fun. ♡

Thanks dear Pete , I'm pleased you liked the song, it is lovely, I will have to check out Fairport Convention, I'm not familiar with that group.

So you did get the link? I couldnt see where I left it in your comments box along with those two movies I recommended?

I will pop over and see your Ireland pics, you seemed more impressed with Scotland... ♡

Not so far dear Phossy but anything is possible, even a song, they could call it 'warped space'. ♡

How about straight water? Naw, sounds too much like a drink for heterosexuals...

dianne said...

Lol dear Phossy , there are so many strange and unusual names for bands and groups these days that 'Straight Water' wouldnt be so bad at all. ♡

Straight Water and the Tall Glasses?

Straight Water with a Twist? ;-)

Must confess I have never heard this before. Like this fragile sound typical from end of 60:s and beginning of 70:s, The caleidoscope effect also fits in :-)

No M dear, neither had I heard it before, came upon it quite by chance while I was looking at some other youtube videos.
Yes it does have a fragile sound, I liked Sonja's voice and the lyrics. ♡

LOVED IT! Can't believe how shallow so many modern ballads seem to have become (I may be mistaken) but there is something much more poignant, empathetic and spiritual about some of these older acoustic ballads. I will now seek out the music on iTunes! Thanks for the post Dianne

CURVED air? Must be an Aussie phenomenon (and also why boomerangs only work down there).
