White Flowers for Chickory

Japanese Windflower -Alba Anemone

White Tulips

Zephyranthes Candida - Fairy Lily or White Rain Lily

White Foxgloves - Digitalis Alba

White Aster Daisies

Hakea Sericea - Australian Native Plant

Pandorea Pandorana Australian Native Climbing Plant

Bursaria Spinosa an Australian native plant

I love most flowers, there is so much diversity in flower shapes, petals, stamens, colours and fragrances, all have their own specific beauty and attraction.
The colour range is so vast and I tend to be drawn to the warmer colours of yellows, apricots, oranges and some pinks; even amongst these colours there are so many subtle shades and variations, I do also like the some of the cooler colours like blues through to purple.
Cream features very much in my garden colour palette and also white, I have given you a sample of some of my favourite white flowers though there are many more, I have included some Australian natives and some exotics, some you will recognise, I hope you will enjoy them all.
Flowers are the smiling faces of so many plants and one cannot help but be delighted with their beauty. ♥

WOW!

dianne,
these are lovely

this year we planted a couple
(who were complaining about my loud music)
of trumpet hybrid lilium regale flowers with the most incredible scent -- two blooms can scent our whole yard on a still evening

they're white -- you'd like 'em

Thanks chickory my dear friend, you are welcome, I'm pleased that you liked them, yes the anemones are called 'windflowers' here and the 'zephyranthes' are also called 'autumn crocus'.
Its actually Winter here not that you could tell at this very moment the sun is shining and the temperature is 75ºF, quite warm in the sunshine.
The asters would look beautiful with purple flowers, my Mum always had a beautiful garden and amongst the many flowers were asters, they had mauve flowers. ♡

Thank you Foamy my dear friend, see I'm spelling your name correctly now.

I'm so pleased that you liked them and yes some of our native plants have such beautiful flowers and foliage. ♡

Thanks Diane dear friend, I'm pleased that you found them to be lovely, yes I knew you would like the tulips, they are amongst my favourites along with gerbera daisies as cut flowers, they look so pretty in a vase together. ♡

Thank you dear /t. , yes some of them do have the 'Wow' factor, they are all beautifil.

I have seen the trumpet hybrid lilium regale , the flowers are beautiful with their yellow stamens and the fragrance is wonderful... most liliums have a lovely fragrance.
I have a small shrub here it is a white flowering 'brunsfelsia' its perfume is incredible too, not overpowering just lovely in the sunshine and on a still night. ♡

Yes, I do make jam as well, but mainly we eat them raw. they taste best that way!

Thank you dear Sarah Sofia I'm so pleased that you liked the flower photos and the native especially, each country has their own beautiful native flowers.
Its amazing how certain species can survive in other countries given the right weather conditions.
I watched a very interesting program over the last couple of weeks where a fellow went all over the world looking at gardens, parts of our country have very similar climatic conditions to South Africa, so a lot of their native plants adapt well here. He was standing looking over the grassy velt and all you could see were white calla lilies growing wild, they looked so beautiful, I have mine in a sunny part of the garden.

I saw your photos from Marstrand, Sweden, what a lovely way to capture that fabulous sunrise, I loved the photos and your story.

Both Foamy and myself were asking about the strawberries, I thought if you had too many you could make some jam/conserve.
I think fresh is best as well. Have you ever made a Pavlova? It is a dessert made with whipped egg whites, caster sugar, vinegar, vanilla essence and cornflour.
It is like a big meringue,it is baked in a slow oven so that the centre stays soft and fluffy.
I decorate mine with whipped fresh cream, halved fresh strawberries, sliced kiwi fruit and drizzled with passionfruit...it is so nice, sweet but light.
It is lovely decorated with whipped cream, pineapple pieces, sliced banana and the juice of passionfruit. Yum. ♡

Thanks dear Corby

Pleased that you like the flower pics; yes the Hakea Sericea flower is beautiful.
The Hakea genus comes in many leaf forms and the flowers are all very pretty, I could probably do a post just on Hakeas, they are one of my favourite native plants. ♡

lovely, all... but you left out my fave white flower: lily-of-the-valley

Lily said...

yes, I've heard about the dessert. it seems to bwe a typical down-under-thing, is that right?

they say it's great, but I've never tried it.
Why do you put vinegar into it???
Does that make it taste better or is it for the consitencey, you know, ao that the whole mess sticks together...

Too many strawberries? Nonsense! there no such thing! nobody can ever have too many strawberries!!!
I would never preserve anything. I know too much about health and food chemistry... so I don't eat anything like taht anymore. I try to eat as many raw fruits and veggies as possible but I have to admid I do make some strawberry jam, but it's usually gone more orless immediately... and then my husband comes in and says: "you look like Winnie the Pooh with his finger in the honey pot...!" so what?! it tasts great!
thanks for the dessert-idea!

I also like gardenias

dianne said...

Hi dear Sarah Sofia , the Pavlova was a dessert made to honour the ballerina Anna Pavlova when she toured here in 1920, I guess it is symbolic of a beautiful tutu.

The vinegar is added to the mixture as it is this which gives the meringue its soft marshmallow consistency in the centre.
Also when I said passionfruit juice I meant all of the pulp and juice from the passionfruit including the seeds.

Yes, raw vegetables and fruits are best, I never overcook any of my vegetables and I do like home made strawberry conserve and it doesnt last long around here either. :) ♡

I'm sorry dear laughingwolf I didnt know...I love lily-of-the-valley also, along with snowbells, snowdrops and freesias for their pretty dainty flowers and perfume, I would never have enough space to post photos of all of the flowers that I love here on my blog. ♡

dianne said...

Yes Lil Lambie dear, gardenias are so beautiful, I have featured pictures of mine in earlier posts.
They grow very well here...I have three varieties in my garden, Gardenia 'Florida', Gardenia augusta 'Magnifica' and Gardenia 'Grandiflora Star', all have lovely glossy green foliage, different but beautiful flower forms and all have a delightful fragrance. ♡

I love flowers too... My garden has been so slow in coming this year though as we had such a cool and damp spring... I have some lovely hydranga out now with shades of pink and blue (in different locations although I am still surprised as its supposed to be a acidity thing that turns their color). I also have some lovely daisys and annuals. Soonnnnnnn I will have veggies and loads of zinnias! I will post a photo of my garden then!

Hope you have a great weekend!
xoxo

dianne said...

Thanks for stopping by Helene dear, I love hydrangeas too; where I lived before I had them planted along the fenceline, they ranged from the white/green (neutral) right through to blue and and deep lavender blue, I didnt add anything to the soil thats just how they flowered.

I had a beautiful garden filled with annuals and perennials there as the soil was so rich...daisies are always lovely with their sunny faces and I like zinnias, they come with such beautiful flower shapes and bright colours.

I think it would be fair to say that I just love trees, plants and flowers...I have more or less planted natives here and a few exotics but I do miss my beautiful bright coloured flowers beds.

Thank you for the award, I would like to pass it on to some special people but I feel I would be passing it on to all of the people in my link list including you...so I don't know what I should do. ♡
