that card actually makes me kind of homesick for germany. there's a street in my home town that was not bombed out during ww II and has therefore kept it's old time charm and curves around like that and has a church at the end of it.

It is like a scene from a Christmas card I had as a child long ago, I always thought it would be a wondrous thing to have snow at Christmas and lights on the tree. ♥
I remember going to one of the big stores in the city and they had a special section for children where you would walk past a series of beautifully crafted Christmas scenes similar to the card and of Santas workshop where toys were being made, the elves,Rudolph and the reindeers, the sleigh, Mrs Claus a whole lot of beautiful coloured scenes which were just magical to me. ♥
There you would see Santa and he would ask if you had been good and what you would like for Christmas. I never asked for much, maybe a doll or a cowgirl outfit but always for a baby sister. ♥♥♥
I remember most to the tour guides in Germany always started out their spiel with "before the allies bombed the area." I didn't have a lot of sympathy - when you try to take over the world you have to expect someone is going to strongly object. Unfortunately a lot of cool places were leveled in trying to depose the carpet chewing paper hanger running the country at the time.
I agree with you dear Phos , if Hitler wanted to take over the world he should have expected some resistance and retaliation.
Its a tragedy that so many innocent people were tortured, injured and killed as a result of his madness. ♥
