From My Window

The sky above the tree line today.

It was very hot here yesterday, the temperature rose to 80 degrees, which is very warm for mid September, it didn't fall much below that even after sunset and late into the evening. I was sitting here at my computer and felt a slight stirring of a breeze which was more than welcome after the stifling heat of the day, I opened the window further to take full advantage of this cooling breeze then it started to rain .
I
answered some e-mails which were long overdue, checked in on all of you and then thought its time for bed. I had my second shower for the day, I always have two, ah, I can hear you saying 'water waster', believe me they are quick, if I want to have a lovely relaxing soak I will take a bath, filled with bubbles and lots of floral and herbal potions; I love the feeling of water on my skin, so refreshing.

Well it was still far too warm for bed covers, so I just turned down the covers and pulled up the sheet. This reminded me of something a lovely, romantic guy once said to me, "I'll bet your sheets smell of you", well yes they do, feminine like me, like the fragrant soap I use, the flowers in my garden and the sunshine and breeze that dried them. What a nice thing to say, its funny how a nice memory like that can return with a simple thing like going to bed. So I settled myself into my lovely bed with my pretty cream sheets and frilled pillow cases feeling quite relaxed and happy. I love my boudoir, it is my own space, my place of refuge and tranquility;I usually fall asleep listening to some soft relaxing music but last night I drifted off to sleep listening to the rain.

Now it is Sunday, I didn't get to my computer until later today, actually mid afternoon. I have a lovely view of the sky and my garden from the window where my desk is situated. I visited Boney and saw his funny weather post, you should take a look. The colour of the deep blue Indiana sky reminded me of why I like early mornings so much. Everything is so quiet then, apart from the singing of crickets and the occasional bird stirring in its nest. I love it as there is always a feeling of hopefulness at the beginning of the day. Thank you Boney.

I am looking out of my window at the sky and my garden, the rain has just stopped. The air is so fresh and cool, it smells beautiful and fragrant with the scent of flowers, foliage and the grass. The sounds of birds singing as they emerge from their nests amidst the shelter of the leaves and trees; crickets and frogs are singing too. The sun is beginning to break through the clouds as they slowly drift apart and every now and then the sun catches a raindrop on a leaf and it sparkles beautifully in that light. The whole garden is soon filled with sunshine, the birds are busy gathering food, the flowers and insects are happy having had their thirsts quenched after the heat of yesterday and I too am happy as I look at this lovely vision of varying shades of verdant foliage and colourful flowers.

Thanks Foamie, I'm pleased that you enjoyed it and it brought a smile to your face. I hope the coffee will help with the headache...not ready to retire just yet, I'm a bit of a night owl and an early riser.

well, it's 10:30 by the international clock, and being a Monday, you're neck deep in work.
Oh well.
Nice weather report.
80!? I'de love 80, but, after this system works by, I'll settle for sixties glazed with low seventies for a bit.

I love clouds. Our sheets smell like huskies. Not very romantic, but there you go.

Your posts are so... glamorous. Even when you talk of nothing but your day. I knew you were going to be someone special to read on the blog-o-sphere. Great job...

Hi Boney, I'm home, nice to sit down and have a cool glass of water, coffee next. If you like you can have some of this heat, its 82 degrees and windy. I'm just dreading summer if this is any indication of whats in store for us, the temps can reach well over 110 degrees here which usually means bush fires. Then again I remember the photos you posted from last winter, when the blizzard hit and all of that snow. There doesn't seem to be a permanent happy medium weather wise that lasts. Looking forward to your report in the morning and some more of your jokes. :) xoxoxo

Phos dear I love clouds too, they never fail to amaze me. :) xoxoxo

So your sheets smell like 'huskies', haven't seen that fabric softener at the supermarket. Lol..Mine is 'citrus and orange blossom', very nice too.

I wouldn't worry too much about their aroma, you have a lovely wife to share your bed and I have no-one. So much for floral scented sheets eh! X

I hope the weather is being kinder to you now. :) xoxoxo

Imagine this;
I am sitting here in the very south of Sweden looking into Windows, reading and intonate every word and nuances of Your experience ... and suddenly, I am aware of that I am through my Windows, looking into Your windows of experience, and then I am You looking out through Your window.

In my field of psychology we use the "window" metaphor as something we observe, a narrowed down focus, sometimes called "clinical window", but to me it is more of an Intermediary Window ....

Amazing feeling

In other words, You write "catchy"

dianne said...

Thanks Anna-Lys, I hope my words in some small way did allow you to experience what I could feel, see, hear and smell...it was an amazing experience, so much so that it inspired me to write about it and share it with all of you. :) xoxox

For some reason, my sheets smell like wet fur and Brut aftershave. Okay, just kidding about the Brut aftershave.

Your boudoir sounds delightful, so I'm adding it to my list of places to visit before I die. Maybe the two events will be closely linked. Who knows?

But quite frankly, your last paragraph made me jittery. I suspect that New York City at rush hour has less things going on.

Happy that you dropped by Puggles my love, I thought you may have forgotten me. :) x

My boudoir is delightful and you are most welcome to visit, but please dont go dying on me, you wont be much fun to cuddle if you're dead.

Sorry if the last paragraph made you jittery, there was a lot of activity going on. We could have played on the grass together precious, so dont let it make you nervous. :) xoxoxox

I don't sleep with covers unless I get cold.

dianne said...

Lil Lambie you are lucky, you have your very own woolly blanket to keep you warm and I guess it insulates you from the heat in Summer. Do you have pretty pink sheets? :) xoxox

Jean said...

Florida averages about six months of summer weather each year. As I get older, that's getting to be too much.
Right now, 80 sounds lovely.

I have red striped sheets. I like decorations on my sheets. I like plaid.

dianne said...

Jeannie, thanks for stopping by, I've missed you. That's a lot of summer temperatures for a year and here am I complaining about a few days above 80 degrees. But it will get much hotter in summer and that is what I am not looking forward to. :) xoxox

dianne said...

Lil Lambie I would never have picked you for a plaid sheet girl, but they sound nice too; see we learn something new every day. :) xoxox

My boudoir colours are soft and restful, mostly cream and white, different textures in the neutral fabrics and to add some colour, accessories in shades of magnolia, peach, soft green and pale yellow.Works well. :) xoxox
