Sense & Sensibility

@-->---

Of things unseene how canst thou deeme aright,
Then answered the righteous Artegall ,
Sith thou misdeem'st so much of things in sight?
What though the sea with waves continuall
Doe eate the earth, it is no more at all...
Nor is the earth the lesse, or loseth ought,
For whatsoever from one place doth fall,
Is with the tide unto an other brought:
For there is nothing lost, that may be found, if sought.

A scene from the 1995 production of Sense & Sensibility adapted from the novel by Jane Austen.
A kind and gentle Colonel Brandon reads this piece of poetry to Marianne, who is recovering from the effects of an illness brought on by a broken heart...from his care and attentiveness to her needs she finds she returns his love and romance blossoms...

A short passage from the poem The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser
Book V Canto II stanza 39

i love this story

in this scene, young jane is sitting in colonel exausten's jeep wrangler -- she wears a quaint, old-fashioned wicker crash helmet -- lovely

spenser should turn on his spelling checker...

/t. dear,
I do love this story, the book was more detailed but I do like this movie adaptation, it is great to see the characters come to life, though they differ to the one's you have imagined in your minds eyes.
The beautiful period costumes, the scenery all make it a wonderful experience.
You have put a modern spin on it, maybe it would work...it has been done before.
Yes Spenser was born in 1552, so it is very olde English.
Thanks /t. dear, you have a lovely day as well. ♥

Thanks dearest K9 ,

I am definitely Marianne, not much sense too much romanticism...but I will change.
Yet I am like Elinor as well for I would have been more aware of her angst and been more helpful and compassionate towards her.

I'm not waiting for my 'Colonel Brandon'...its too late. ♥

Are you referring to Emma Thompson marrying the actor Greg Wise (Willoughby) in real life, he's not definitely not my type. ♥

So pleased that you are back.

So Phossy dear, you are a romantic too, I think you would be. ♥

Lol dearest Foamie thank you, that was quite a mouthful. ♥

Ne sweete friend fore I hath search'd the heav'ns, the earthe and tide for the one whom would returne my love and filleth mine heart with the glowe of happiness and redeem'st me from this unhappy affliction.
He is not to be founde...or he doth choose to ignore my plight. ♥

"For there is nothing lost, that may be found, if sought."

True enough.

dianne said...

Well Lee , that's what I am hoping...but I do realise there are limitations and not all that is lost can be found, even if it is sought.
What I am seeking is still there but maybe not for me.
In an ideal world maybe, maybe in the time of Spenser. ♡

For me, the healing process began with Colonel Sanders.

Puggles my sweet, I don't think Colonel Sanders could solve any of my problems or help me. ♡
