OPIUM - Mysterious Fragrance of the Orient

Opium Perfume and EDT, by Yves Saint Laurent, product launched in 1977.

This is not an advertisement nor is it an endorsement of this product - though it is delightful and I have worn it on many occasions when I have been beautifully dressed and going somewhere special; but then again I have worn it whilst wearing my oriental red silk gown and nothing else...
It is purely here to enlighten two very sweet friends of mine who are having serious doubts about my lifestyle. Lol... ;-)

A soft feminine fragrance...a fruity aromatic opening...a floral voluptuous and spicy character...a rich oriental and spicy structure...profound and intense, which sublimates the sensuality of the fragrance...exotic, seductive and full of promise... ;-)
Enchanting oriental floral notes, Bergamot, Mandarin, Muguet, Vanilla, Coriander, Pepper, Plum, Cloves, Myrhh, Rose and Jasmine.

Gosh with all of that going for it you would think I would get lucky!?!... :-)

Of course I want you to get lucky! THAT is why I picked up some Myrhh and started following your bright star on my camel, silly. But now I see that this product already has it. So now I need to see if I can exchange it for some Frankincense. I just hope you don't turn out to be a "gold-digger".

what do you mean
... you don't lounge in those smoke filled dens?. i had you pictured with just that red silk gown and one of the ciggies on a long skinny handle with the opium pipe close by.
juuuuuuuuuuuust kiiiiiiiiiiiiidding!!!!!

but opium den did come to mind i have to say although i did gather, dianne, that you are as clean as a whistle concerning alternate illegal methods of getting happy or down ..

which is kind of funny since one of the first gifts a boyfriend (now mr foam) gave me, oh so many years ago, was opium by yves st laurent.
i had not asked for it. he just surmised that i might like the scent. which i did since during the days of my peasant blouses sans anything underneath, i was into wearing eygptian musk oils ..
and opium reminded me of it. alas, just a little while later i realized that mr not-yet-foam can't stand scents. he just thought it would be an appropriate gift since he had seen his dad gift his mom with perfume. anyway, i've been scentless since..

Oh Puggles my sweet, Myrhh and Frankincense for me, and following my star to me by camel; how thoughtful and romantic you are.

I can assure you I'm not a "gold-digger" so your pocket money will be perfectly safe...young whippersnapper...well you did say I was older than you...but you might be pleasantly surprised. ♥♥

Dearest Foamie , I guess that image of a smoke filled room dressed in my red silk gown reclining on a lounge or some such thing with a ciggie and puffing on an opium pipe might look seductive to some, but nah, not me. ♥

yes I'm your clean living gal who hardly gets up to any mischief and I could think of much nicer ways to have fun. ♥

Ah yes those days of peasant blouses, exotic fragrances, Indian cotton attire, lots of bangles and sandals from Morocco were great.
Do you know we have a chain of stores here now called "Tree of Life", who sell all of those clothes like we used to wear back then, it seems to be making a comeback with the younger girls. ♥

How sweet of not-yet-Mr Foam to buy the perfume for you. I really like it, never put too much on though for like Mr Foam some people are very sensitive to perfumes and I cant stand it when people wear so much it makes your eyes water. Its a shame he doesn't like them at all.♥

Oh dear /t. , I cannot imagine you ever being in an opium den and gosh if you were you would want to find more than 2cents for yourself. ♥

Thank you for the <3 for myself and Foamie, you are very kind.

So Foamie remains 'scentless' and I remain 'opium smoke free'...just wear the perfume occasionally. ♥♥♥

dianne said...

Yes dear Anna-Lys they certainly were. ♥

Thanks for the link...how do you do that?

dianne said...

Ah j cosmo my dear I wasn't speaking of a red silk dress, I was referring to a gown you would put on after bathing, not something you would wear out in public view. ♥

dianne said...

Yes dear Lil Lambie opium is a drug, it is derived from opium poppies...but I am talking about the perfume which is called "Opium". I guess it was given the name to make it sound dangerous and seductive. ♥

Little Lamb said...

Perhaps I should try some.

dianne said...

Oh Boney my love, I have been looking for Lucky all my life but each time I find him he is either taken or very far away. ♥♥♥

dianne said...

Yes dear Lil Lambie you should certainly try the perfume but never, ever try the drug, OK!

Oh and Foamie my dearest friend, dont worry about not wearing perfume for there is nothing more alluring than the scent of lovely fresh skin washed with a nice bath soap or bubble bath or a bubbly wash you use in the shower. ♥♥

How do I do what?

dianne said...

Anna-Lys dear, how do you link something in the comments box, I was just curious to know? ♥

dianne said...

Lee dear, so you like it?

ANNA-LYS said...

Why keep calling me "dear"
when You visit my site
often without saying
anything at all??

dianne said...

Would you prefer to me to just call you Anna-Lys and drop the 'dear'? If so that is OK by me, I was just being friendly, I'm like that you know.
I visit your site often as I like your posts and enjoy reading the comments and listening to your choice of songs, I dont always have something to add to the comments.
What has brought this on?
Would you prefer it if I didn't visit at all...I thought or hoped we were all friends. ♥

And now Anna-Lys I see that you have removed your Avatar from my Followers list...may I enquire Why??

i heard if you want to get lucky you smear some sugar cookie dough on your neck.

dianne said...

Lol K9 my dear and welcome back. ♥
I would never have thought of 'sugar cookie dough', does it hold some kind of mysterious attractant for the opposite sex? ♥

sparringK9 said...

yes! scientific proof that men go weak at the knees at the smell of food. then there was that study about getting all sweaty and taking a cotton ball and soppin up some sweat from...oh, lets say your inner thigh region and then dabbing that behind your ears. never tried it myself, but theres still time. ;-)

dianne said...

Oh dear K9 , you make me laugh, you are a source of information.
well they do say that 'the way to a mans heart is through his stomach' so there might be some truth in it.
Yes I have read about putting a dab of ones 'inner essence' behind the ears and on pulse points with your perfume helps but I've yet to try that myself, but you never know. ;-)
