Last light fading
A flash of rays
Golden and glowing
Last light of day…

Grandes abrazos

One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII by PABLO NERUDA

I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz,
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as one loves certain obscure things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom but carries
the light of those flowers, hidden, within itself,
and thanks to your love the tight aroma that arose
from the earth lives dimly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you directly without problems or pride:
I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,
except in this form in which I am not nor are you,
so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,
so close that your eyes close with my dreams.

...

The poems of Pablo Neruda is from my past. I don't know exactly why but I felt like sharing this poem with you. I am struggling, really struggling, at this moment. I feel that I can't breathe. I return to my ivy tree almost every day and touch its bark with sensitive fingers. The wind rises. Still, I stay, motionless. If only... I am hoping for something to happen. I cannot make it happen. Maybe, it is as George Frederic Watts painted on the subject of hope. Just a lone, single string on a lyre. Plucked by the blindfolded, washed-ashore girl, hoping that a new tune will emerge. I prayed for you last night and your beloved son. For the sunbeam to no longer be shy but to reveal itself from behind such dark clouds from before. Maybe you saw a flash too. I am sure I did. Humbly, C.B.

dianne said...

Dearest .C.B dear one, you have been in my thoughts so often of late. I am so happy to hear from you, it seems like such a long time since you have visited. I have been struggling to put my thoughts into words in a poem for you as I have been so caught up in taking care of Matthew I barely have time for anything else. You will think I don't care about you anymore, that I am neglecting you and that is so far from the truth. I miss you and since you are so far away, I cannot reach out and touch you, or give you a hug. I feel close to you when I think of you in the space between dreams and daylight, between the shadows of loneliness and the light of hope, I imagine you are with me in spirit. I imagine you are happy walking through lovely forests and across beautiful green fields. I had no idea that you are so unhappy.
I am so very sorry to read that you are struggling once more, that you feel you cannot breathe. I feel so sad to think of you as a lone single string on a lyre waiting to be plucked hoping for a new tune to emerge, a change for the better, for something good to happen.
What has happened to make you feel so unhappy and struggling again? You seemed well for such a long time, travelling overseas, riding your motorcycle to new and exciting destinations. I have been praying for your good health, happiness and safety but my prayers must have gone unheard. I hope the dark clouds part soon and you will be bathed in the warmth of sunshine. Please try to find that place within yourself where you feel peace away from the dark thoughts which make you feel down and lost. I know this is not easy but please think of the beauty in the world, forget the ugliness that exists. There is beauty in the warmth of the sunshine, white clouds in a blue sky, the scent of flowers, the song of the wind in the trees. All of the beauty you have shown me in your words and thoughts, these are still within you to reflect and call upon. Can I help in any way?
Thank you for your prayers for Matthew and myself, I look forward to better days.

I did see a flash last night and heard the wind in the trees, the flash was lightning in the eastern sky over the ocean.

Thank you for sharing this love sonnet with me, the words and feelings they evoke are so romantic, a beautiful kind of love.
I wanted a to share a favourite love sonnet with you, another composed by Pablo Neruda.
Please take care dear one, you know you are always in my thoughts.
Much love, Dianne. xoxoxo. ♡
.........
Perhaps not to be is to be without your being,
without your going, that cuts noon light
like a blue flower, without your passing
later through fog and stones,
without the torch you lift in your hand
that others may not see as golden,
that perhaps no one believed blossomed
the glowing origin of the rose,
without, in the end, your being, your coming
suddenly, inspiringly, to know my life,
blaze of the rose-tree, wheat of the breeze:
and it follows that I am, because you are:
it follows from ‘you are’, that I am, and we:
and, because of love, you will, I will,
We will, come to be.
