Thank you, sweat pea.
Happy Valentine's Day to you too.
I find myself always slightly exasperated on valentine's day.

I do like the art that you chose. For some reason I'm quite taken with the pudgy little hands of this young woman. I find it intriquiging somehow that the artist paints the fingers into long narrow tips .. like an elongated triangle.

Beautiful picture, wonderful. I do not believe in Valentine's Day, because when you are in love, it is minute by minute and day by day. And do not prove it looking into the eyes of the beloved shows. To me it is an instrument of consumer society in which we live where gifts are often made a lot of hypocrisy. Besos.

Thank you dear Tiago , I enjoy my visits and your photographs. The idea of the playing cards spelling out 'LOVE' was very nice.

Thank you dear Foamy ,
I like to do a Valentine's Day post every year, it is just my way of wishing all of you a lovely day.
I don't get exasperated and I don't get disappointed any more as I have no-one in my life who would want me for his Valentine.

I was going to post a photo of some red roses but decided on this painting as I love the red colour of the dress, the young woman's face, her demure expression and dark hair.
Yes I did notice her chubby little hands and fingers which come to a point, quite unusual.
I hope you have a lovely day 'little flower' from the North.

Thank you dear Leovi , yes it is a beautiful painting, a pretty young woman and a sumptuous red dress.
If you have someone to love and who loves you well of course your love and affection is there constantly and you are very blessed.

I don't like how this special day has been commercialised for profit and the hypocrisy either, but if sentiments are exchanged between two people who are in love and care for each other well there is no harm in that ... Valentine's day is very special to some. :)

I'd wish you a Happy Valentine's Day but wouldn't that be against the rules? There is the anonymous post option I guess...

Thanks for thinking of me dear Lee , it is OK to send a friend some wishes.
I hope that you and Margaret have a very lovely Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentine's Day Dianne...I do love this portrait..there's something about classical paintings that keep us amazed and thinking..I used to put these kinds of portraits in my blog to accompany my posts before I started playing with the camera!

dianne said...

Merci, chère Françoise , oui c'est une belle peinture, sa robe est tellement belle et rouge est la couleur de l'amour.
Bon après-midi

Thank you dear HLiza , I hope you had a lovely day also.
I think these classical paintings are so beautfiful, I have posted a few on my blog over time.
This one is especially lovely, her pretty face and demure expression and I thought the red of the gown was so symbolic of love.
My photographic skills are not so good but I shall keep trying. :)

What a fantastic painting Dianne! I've never heard of this artist but will look him up. The texture in the painting is wonderful.... the dress, the lady's skin and the cat... it looks so real, I'd love to just pick it up out of the painting. :)

Thank you Lesley dear, yes it is a beautiful painting. I love the colour and texture of her gown, her skin tone and pretty face and of course the cat ... I reduced the size of the painting as I wanted to emphasise the beauty of the gown and also put the link to the complete painting showing the cat.
I wanted to post something that was beautiful and interesting and red of course.

dianne said...

Thank you dear /t. , yes it is a beautiful painting, I was very happy when I found the image as I was looking for something different to post for Valentine's Day.

My day was just the same as any other, no romance or promise of it but I did not expect it to be any different.
I enjoyed all of the comments and wishes from my friends here.

Yes Foamy dear, I did call you 'little flower from the north', because you are dainty and as pretty and sweet as any flower and you are a good friend to me.
I liked how you called me 'sweet pea', that was very sweet of you.

No forgiveness necessary dear chickory , it was your anniversary week, gosh if I had someone to love me I would not be spending so much time on the computer.
Anyway, congratulations again on
your anniversary, you have had a busy week.
My Valentine's day was just like any other as I don't have a special person to share the day, but yes, there is a lot of love here from my friends and I am very grateful.

I often wonder if Saint Valentine always demanded the best candy and flowers because he felt it was "his" day.

dianne said...

Somehow, I don't think so Pugsley my sweet.
Maybe someone would present their love with a flower picked from a meadow as a token of affection, as it is a day when many celebrate their love for each other.
I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day?
