" A Maidens Plea "

As some of you will no doubt know, Sir Percy Bisque Silley did challenge and dare me to to submit a poem to the 'Silly Poetry Competition', well he said I could enter a poesy, I do not know that my poem is so silly but here it is just the same ... Lady Dianne

@-->---

In times of olde
when Knights were bold
They would tilt for the hand of a lady
But where are they now
for none can be found
And pray, what has happened to chivalry?

For such tales of woe, I have been told
t'would make a fair maiden shudder
For we are left in dread
for fear of being forced to bed
To be prodded about and mishandled
By some rakish cads or brutish louts
Whose passions are unchecked and unbridled

Leaving us in dismay, 'tis fair to say
Our petticoats and finery all asunder
Left to the mercy of their hands
and their carnal demands
Left entirely undone and violated!

So be there one gallant Knight
who will save me from this plight?
Who will come to my aid and protect me
Who will wield his mighty sword
and warn off one and all
Of those who would hurt and offend me

To take me for his own
and love me alone
With his heart and his eyes for no other
Bring a blush to my cheeks
with kisses so sweet
To wed me and make me his lover ...

Sigh! Be there such a man,
I do hope and pray
Who will shower me with love and kisses ... ♥

Great Self-Portrait, Dianne.

Thanks Anna dear,
I wanted to get into character and dress for the occasion. xoxo ♡

you do look very loverly, dianne.
this is a very fine poem ..
"our petticoats and finery all asunder?"
there's a bit of humor right there!
what a worthy opponent you are.

i cannot be your gallant knight,
but since i'm no maiden fair either .. :)
should any brutish louts come knocking
at the door i'll pop on over and dump my
beer over them ... wait .. that would be a
silly waste indeed. i'll just grab my gnarly
club, crawl out of my cave and clobber them
upside the head ..

Lee said...

Considering your finery is in disarray, I probably shouldn't do that old joke about the medieval butcher called Sir Loin. Ooo. Maybe I just did.

A lovely, easy moving, light poem. But the heart-felt core is clearly there.

dianne said...

Thank you my dearest Foamy

I'm so pleased that you like my poem and found the humour in it, I don't think it will make the competition but I had so much fun composing it. I thought I would get into character for the occasion hence the Medieval clothes.

Last time I looked, i.e this morning, my finery and petticoat were all in tact, so there is no need to fear for my safety.

Thanks for the offer of protection, but save your beer dear friend, I will either clobber someone myself or maybe, just maybe a gallant knight will come along and save me.

Hope you are feeling a little better today? xoxox ♡

dianne said...

Lol Lee dear

My finery and petticoat are not in disarray, well they weren't last time I checked. :)
I haven't heard that joke about Sir Loin, I'm sure it would make me laugh. :)

I'm pleased that you enjoyed my poem, I had so much fun composing it...by the 'heart-felt core' were you referring to my search for love...well please don't worry about me,I have stopped looking, I am happy and content and if love does ever find me again that will be very special. xoxo ♡

sir loin! grrherhehrahaha

loved it! a very dianne poem. who did the painting? it reminds me of folk artist howard finster.

dianne said...

Thank you dearest chickory

Pleased that you loved my poem, I don't think I would like to meet up with Sir Loin... Lol :)

I did the painting chickory, it is the same 'me' I use for my avatar, only this time I decided to dress up for the occasion... do you approve?
I need to practice more and buy myself some finer brushes.

Percylet (to cell phone): Lo, what then? A Maiden in Distress?

Our Knight cavalierly tosses his cell phone into the underbrush and then prods his White stallion, which rears up on its mighty hindquarters a'fore a'leaping forward.

Percylet (shouted, to his Horse): Up, up and away! Onward, Thunderloins!

Just so you know, I do tilt for ladies, even though they only do it to get more action from my bumpers.

J Cosmo Newbery said...

A good and fair entry, Lady Dianne. You are right, they are fun to do but don't everyone, OK?

But I do recommend that you stay away from people who make innuendo ridden jokes about 'Sir Loin'. Low class stuff.

But, having said that let me say this, have you noticed who is missing from this contest? Yes. Sir Percy is very quiet, so to him, keeping the butchery theme, I say "Come Knave! Do your wurst!".

dianne said...

Thank you dear Sir Percy

It is very reassuring to know that chivalry is alive in the hearts of fine gentleman like your good self who will come to the aid of a maiden in distress.

I shall look for thee dear Sir in the morrow, riding your White Horse across the the meadows and past the hedgerows and wait for thee to sweep me up in your arms and we shall ride off together into the sunshine of a glorious new day. xoxo ♥♥♥

Lady Dianne @-->--

dianne said...

Sir Puggles my sweet,

I do not understand, I am sure you would tilt for ladies and rescue maidens in distress, but I do not know what are these 'bumpers' of which you speak?

xoxoxo ♥♥♥

dianne said...

Why thank you dear Sir Cosmo

I did not enter the contest to win the prize as I do realise that I would have no chance of winning, I did it for the 'dare' and because I so enjoyed writing my little piece ... it was so much fun that is why I also included the painting of myself dressed as a Medieval maiden ... that was fun as well.

I haven't heard the joke referring to 'Sir Loin', it is probably only suitable for the company of gentleman, when they retire to the drawing room for brandy and a fine cigar ... :)

I think Sir Percy may have a big surprise in store for us and will publish his literary masterpiece, his opus just before the deadline.

Lady Dianne. xoxo ♡♡♡ @-->--

Good Lady Dianne: Verily, a'fore this week be last or next be this, Sir Percy shall have posted the Incomparable.

dianne said...

Oh wise Soothsayer

If you do predict it thence I am assured 'tis to be ... but may I respectfully enquire as you do look into your glass of the future, ask thee one question ... is Sir Percy's inspiration for the Incomparable to come from the Liquor Establishment of one Ms. Gautami Tripathy?

Lady Dianne ... ♡

I really like the self-portrait and poem. Even though it's for a silly poetry competition, it's good :]

dianne said...

Thank you dear Meg but it's not my best art, as I said at your blog I shall have to practice more and I must try something other than watercolours.
Pleased you liked the poem for the silly poetry competition, it is all just a bit of fun. :) ♡

Your reply it does confuse me
maybe you think I be too 'choosey'

For so long I've been moral and chaste
to be bedded there is no haste

For I would rather go without
than be groped by a brutish lout

I shall wait for that special one
who will love me for who I am ...

For you have the love of your lady
the one you hold most dear
You are blessed to have each other
Two hearts beating as one ...
with love and respect for each other

That is the kind of love I wish for
I will hold out until it comes
with the man who will love me dearly
With the one who will steal my heart ...

Oh Dianne, Lady Dianne I am lead to believe, how can you trample my poem so? I am shattered, despondent. O Misery.

dianne said...

Oh Lee, dear Lee , I did not trample your poem so, for it did confuse me, I did read it many times but could not find its meaning, its message...I did think it might have a hidden meaning, one that I would not undestand...
Please do not be shattered, despondent or miserable, for I meant no offence... Oh I feel so ashamed, please accept my apology... xoxo ♥♥♥

I once had a True Love named Jane,
Our True Love it waxed then did wane
Till I met Emma Lou
Who soon bid me adieu –
Now I’ve learned to count True Loves by two.

dianne said...

Hi Shweta dear
I am pleased that you are well and I do understand how busy you must be with your sports and with your studies... so I don't expect you to be here and comment all of the time,if and only when you feel like it sweet girl. :)
I will still be here and when you post again I will visit your blog ...good luck with the study and your exams. xoxo ♡

dianne said...

Percy my dear that is such a pretty poem,'tis difficult to suffer and survive heartbreak....

Why that is so sad dear Percy
to be thwarted twice by lovers
Your poor heart must hope for mercy
to be warmed by the love of another
A maiden who shall be true
That is what I do wish for you...

xoxo ♡♡♡

J Cosmo Newbery said...

Sir Percy is a heartless cad,
Worse than horrible, definitely bad,
Make him work, make him toil
Boil him in vat of oil
Lovers may come and lovers may go
Don't be quick to condemn them so:
Show them love ands show them mercy,
The common factor was bad Sir Percy!

dianne said...

Lovely to see you here again my dear Sir Cosmo

What you say may well be true
but I cannot persecute him
I don't want to believe he is so bad
though time may prove it true
To bear a broken heart 'tis punishment enough
though maybe brought upon himself
but I still cannot condone it
But his ladies, sir I don't condemn
for I've been there thrice myself
At the mercy of enfeeling men
who have left me in distress ...

xoxoxo ♡

Howling said...

I'm new to your blog and this question may have already been answered but what is that thing peaking up from your cleavage?

It's a grubby observation, I know, but I feel sort of envious. Is that bad of me?

dianne said...

Welcome to my blog dear Howling
Lol, no 'tis not a grubby observation at all, I am pleased that you asked, for it is a small pink flower peaking up from my cleavage to symbolise modesty, the white lilies are there to symbolise purity, as my painting here is to suggest that I am a maiden in distress.
Thank you. :) xoxo ♡

Percy Bisque Silley said...

Sir Cosmo and Lady Di: What? WHAT?? I said two TRUE LOVES, is this not Romantic enough??

In essence, the Poem attests to how the Scales have Fallen from mine eyes and I now see True Loves everywhere, my heart constantly a'flutter from finding myself in a veritable Sea of Soul Mates!!!

Sir Cosmo sees Irony in Innocence; Ladies, tread carefully…

dianne said...

Yes dear Sir Percy

two TRUE LOVES is romantic enough!

After suffering twice a broken heart your choices may be not so discerning, but where is the harm in seeing True Loves everywhere if they make your heart a'flutter ...
For in that Sea of Soulmates of which you speak you may find that ONE TRUE LOVE, the one who shall steal your heart away and make you want no other ... ♡

I may be naive in my thoughts but I still hold on to a feeling of hope, that one day true love shall find me, but due to past experience, I do tread carefully ...
xoxoxo ♡

HLiza said...

I can never write poems like that! You are so talented..and i didn't know you painted that portrait..gorgeous!

Howling said...

Please, call me Wolf.

dianne said...

Thank you dear HLiza

I'm pleased that you like my poems and my painting, I wish I had more talent then I would not have a file of unfinished poems for which I cannot find the emotions or words.
I have only featured a few of my paintings and drawings on my blog over time, I should paint more and hope to do so in the future.
What of your beautiful photography, that is also art and you are very talented when it come to your photographs that you take and post on your blog, each tell a story. xoxoxo ♡

dianne said...

Ok sir, I shall call you Wolf
if that is what you prefer ...
but are you in fact a wolf?
As far as your comment about being envious of that flower, and was that bad of you, well please do not feel bad or envious, for many have looked and wished to be in its place but only one has had the pleasure.

Dianne.. you must be one of that fancy girls that was ever so popular in school.. have to confess I never stood in the queue for them..

I understand your summer down under is almost over...

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIkUiD8N81k</a>

dianne said...

M dear,

You are very much mistaken,I was quite pretty but there was nothing fancy about me nor was I popular with the boys, I was far too shy for that kind of thing.
Sure there were some guys who liked me but I spent most of my time with my head in a book.
There were plenty of other girls who had the boys chasing after them, I was too busy studying.

Our summer hasn't quite made up its mind, we had some nice cool days but yesterday and today are hot again.

Sorry, M but I couldnt't get the link to work. xoxo ♡

In School I was a Fancy Boy and oft misunderstood on that account. But now I am a Fancy Man much adored by Ladies, also a few odd Fellows whom I have greatly Discouraged.

The Voting Post is Up!!!

dianne said...

I wasn't a girl with fanciful ideas about myself, just a sweet, shy girl who didn't encourage the overt attention of boys who would have used me badly.
Instead I had some true friends who respected my morality.

It pleases me to read that you are a Fancy Man much adored by Ladies and I can see how that could be so.

My choice is torn between two poems, so I may have to think on my decision for a while or in fairness vote for both.

Yours in friendship

Dianne. xoxo ♡

Now Lady Dianne, dear lady, I hope you forgive me. I did not vote for you.

Your poem is not silly. It is touching, fetching, heart warming and heart rending but it is not silly.

That is a nice poem. Nice picture, too.

dianne said...

So dear Sir Cosmo
'anonymous' visits you also and compliments you on your blog and is anxious to see more of your posts?

Well I thought for a moment that it might be a special 'anonymous' who used to visit me regularly, but it seems I am mistaken. xoxo ♡

dianne said...

My dear Sir Cosmo

There is no need to ask for my forgiveness, I didn't expect you or anyone else to vote for my poem, as I explained to Sir Percy, I had written it for the dare and his challenge and thoroughy enjoyed writing it and painting my picture ... that is my reward.
I am at least pleased that you enjoyed my poem for the reasons you have mentioned ... thank you.

Your poem however was very clever and funny and I loved the imaginative characters you wrote about and the funny dialogue they shared ... your poem had me laughing loudly as I pictured the rock, the yak and the anchovy ... it would make a great illustrated story for adults... I will never be able to look at a toupee in the same way without hearing the clicking of knitting needles. :) xoxo ♡

Thank you Lamby dear,
