An Ancient Forest Dream

If you wish to view the image of Park Hill in the New Forest in Hampshire which was originally posted here, please follow this link, which will take you there ... ♥

I wander through the forest
searching for you there
Soft leaves beneath my feet
sweet scent, the forest air

And as the gentle breeze
wraps 'round me
It stirs and swirls the leaves
And sends a song of rustling
Like a breath through the trees

I look up to the canopy
a myriad of rays
Of sunshine as it glistens
through green and golden leaves

The trees call out and beckon me
to search further on
Deep into the forest
their whispered forest song

Searching for you there
with new hope I wander on
I follow the path of promise
to find you once again

I listen for you in the shadows
hoping you might be there
Such a magic place to meet you
' midst ferns and bracken faire

Hoping for a glimpse of you
in some ancient copse of trees
I look for your footprints
in search of where you have been

With such hope of finding you
I wander further on
You may have left a sign for me
or maybe you have gone ...

As my heart and hopes are fading
like the dimming of the sun
Somewhere I have lost you
my hopes are all un-done

I wonder did I imagine you
I wonder were you real
Or just an echo of a memory
from some ancient forest dream ....

Very nice.

Thank you dear Maha

That is very sweet of you, I think you can understand and appreciate the challenge we face sometimes when trying to express our feelings in a poem...sometimes the emotion is there but we just have to unlock the words...
I wanted this one to be special, I don't know that I have achieved that, it has been edited many times.
Yes, the New Forest in Hampshire is so beautiful. xo ♡

Thanks Sarah Sofia,
Yes the New Forest in Hampshire is certainly beautiful, similar to some photos you have posted of Autumn foliage on your blog. ♡

The weather here is wet, hot and humid.

I have no interest in 'Scientology' or any other cult ... I'm sorry Sarah I didn't find any part of it interesting, in fact I found it disturbing.

Absolutely beautiful Mum. I found myself creeping alongside you in the forest, joining the search for your enigmatic spirit. You are so talented and expressive.

Thank you my dearest girl, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my poem ... yes that enigmatic spirit is quite elusive... xo ♡

Thank you Foamy dear,

yes she is a lovely girl ..

I hoped you would like my poem, I had so much difficulty writing this one and yes I searched for just the right photo; what a beautiful place to wander and explore. xo ♡

First I think you did a brilliant job at expressing your feelings in the poem and, like your sweet daughter, I was walking along with you verse by verse! Lovely!
Second, wow that photo is lovely. We are still digging out from the 2nd largest snowstorm on record here 28 inches officially... with more to come on Weds! ugg... I look outside and see white.. so nice to come here and see thick lush green! ty! =]

WOW...Dianne...It had been a while since I have been to your blog...once here, I couldn't leave! The poem, the movie, the soundtrack, the ancient forest...your blog is captivating and draws one in. I really didn't have the time this morning but when I got here...time didn't matter.

Your description in the poem perfectly fits a photo that I am posting this Thursday...I could never had written anything ...any better to match my image.

Thank you for a wonderful visit.

Thanks dear Helene
I'm so pleased that you came along on the journey with me, that you enjoyed my poem, I can see it all as I write the verses, the trees, the forest floor, the leaves, I can feel the breeze and hear the sounds of the forest...difficult to express in words sometimes.
Yes that photo is so beautiful, I would like to go there one day.

So you are now at home back from your trip to the UK? Gosh that is a lot of snow, take care, though it must look beautiful, I remember your photo that you posted last year from your verandah I think. xo ♡

Sort of sums up how I feel at present Dianne! :-) You should definitely credit the images you use Dianne because apart from acknowledging the author (which is vital to their survival) it's also just good to know ! As an artist I have had my work used all over the place illegally and it's very upsetting, so I have a soap box for this issue ! :-)

Oh bugger! Unless this is YOUR image of course in which case no problem !!! Though you should still credit yourself :-))

dianne said...

No Glyn it was not my image and of course you knew that as my photography is not up to that standard.
I found the image on the interenet, I thought it was so beautiful and was perfect for the sentiment of my poem.
The New Forest is a common area in Hampshire, very beautiful and this place holds a special meaning for me.
I didn't realise that it was copyrighted until I went back to the sight after reading your comment, there is no way that I can contact the photographer for his/her permission to use the photo so I have removed the image.
I thought about leaving it there as I have such a small following and I did not in any way suggest that it was my photograph ... such a shame as it was so lovely ... now no-one will see it but I have provided a link for those who wish to see what was originally there, I hope that is not illegal. X ♡

Hi Dianne, no offence was intended and personally, I wouldn't have removed the image this time, it was a sudden realisation that there was no credit to the artist that's all. As an artist I almost always look for the credit because if a work fascinates me, I want to know who the author is and more about them.

Many members of the general pubic have no idea about copyright and a great majority don't care either, about the artists that produce the work, think of music for example and how many bands and singers have their work illegally copied, and the web has made all of this so much easier but it has literally killed the business of many artists and musicians.

I think with blogs, where a private individual is writing personal thoughts, that as long as the author is credited or even better hyper-linked, then 'personally' I think this can be a good thing for the artist if it draws customers to their web pages or whatever.

Perhaps in future, just dig out images where the author IS known and can at least be credited to help them continue making beautiful work ? I'd hate to think that someone would use your lovely poems on their blogs without telling anyone who wrote them in the first place ?

Assuring you that I was not telling you off! :-)) Just offering a suggestion ? XX

No offence taken Glyn , what you say is true, I removed the photo as I felt after your comment it was the right thing to do... I should have just posted an image of my japanese maple tree.
Funny thing is according to the photographers page the image has only been viewed 69 times, such a shame.
For the most part the photos I post are either mine from my garden and the local environment, photos which have no copyright or are from garden centres or council plant nurseries which are free to use.
I have put a link to the sight so I hope anyone who visits here will go and have a look at the beautiful photos. X ♡

dianne,
actually i think your forest photos down below would go very nicely with your poem, esp. the 1st or second. they are lovely in their haziness.

dianne said...

Thanks dear Foamy sadly my post is now incomplete ... my poem has lost something with the removal of that beautiful image...it has made me quite sad.

The forest in my area lacks the beautiful greens of those in the Northern Hemisphere, like the UK and your lovely forest, mainly because it is such a dry country. I would have to climb a long way down almost to the valley floor to capture the lush green foliage of the trees, ferns and bracken that would compare with that in the missing image and at the moment I am incapable of taking on such a trek.
Thank you for your very kind suggestion. xo ♡

Gee, thanks lady. When I venture into the woods, I leave a sign for most people. Usually they step in it.

The Phosgene Kid said...

There's your mistake. You don't pursue the game, you sit quiet and still along the path and wait for it to come to you.

And don't forget to let the meat hang for awhile 'til it cools, or it'll taste awful when you cook it.

dianne said...

Welcome Black Bart
I believe you are the spokesperson/dog for Puggles while he is busy organising his upcoming major event. :)
Thanks but that was not the kind of sign I was looking for little friend, I thought there might have been a message carved into a tree or a trail of petals or flowers ... but no, I was mistaken.
Thank you for visiting, I hope Puggles will return with you soon. xo ♡

dianne said...

Phossy dear,
I wasn't hunting for game :) though what you say could be good advice, but I don't hunt my friend, I could never be a hunter, I am a 'gatherer'.
It was a lovely walk or dream, but I think I was searching, or hoping for something or someone who is just that ... a dream or something I vividly imagined. xo ♡

It was off the veranda! I posted some additional snow shots... we are getting more snow Monday too... I just dont know where we will put it all hehehe!

Have a great weekend! xo

dianne said...

Thank you dear K9

Yes anything that tells of the beauty of the forest and what you will sometimes find there is a song to my heart as well.
I'm pleased that you liked my poem, I was beginning to think that you had given up on me.
You haven't missed the image, if you click on the 'New Forest' link you will see how beautiful it is. xo ♡

dianne said...

Gosh Helene
More snow! There is snow everywhere in the northern hemisphere it seems, how wonderful, we are just having huge downpours of rain, electrical storms and unfortunatley for some areas there is flooding and a lot of damage.
Some of the drought areas are at least getting well needed, overdue rain, so we must be thankful for those people in the rural areas.
I don't mind the rain it is always welcome when it keeps the bush fires away.
Thanks, you have a great weekend too. xo ♡

I especially enjoyed this poem because there was no mention of chainsaws or snowmobiles.

dianne said...

Puggles my sweet, I didn't realise that you had left a comment here ... I just found it.

No my sweet, there are no chainsaws allowed in my forest and there is no snow, for in my forest it is forever Springtime ... xoxoxo ♡
