If You Forget Me

If you forget me
I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow Autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the
impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,

for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguised or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

Everytime I read something from Neruda my heart starts to beat in a new frequency ... the passion beat!

Thank You, Dianne!!! <3Pablo Neruda is my absolute absolute favourite ... and this one I love the most:

I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire

I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly
But, You knew that from my former blog, I posted this one 3!!!! times :-D

Thank you too Anna- Lys , there are many of his poems that I love.
This one I have posted especially and his poem you have written here in the comments is both beautiful and passionate.

Believe me I can identify with the words and emotions in them both. ♡

Thanks for your advice Boney dear but you are mistaken in thinking that this poem is posted for anyone in particular, I simply love the poem.

I am not holding out hope of a reconciliation with my former partner, I let go of those feelings about ten years ago.

I am not leaving my life in the hands of another, my latest foray into trying to establish a relationship with another man and hoping for his love has been a lesson in frustration and disappointment...time to stop trying at all; anyway I am used to being alone. ♡

I've never read this one... it's BEAUTIFUL! This won't be the last time I read it!

Thanks Diane dear, I'm pleased you enjoyed it, I think it is BEAUTIFUL too.
I found it amongst some of his poems some time ago and 'bookmarked' the page, I often go there and read it. ♡

Well, now,

I shall stop loving you little by little.

...very sensible...
and very hard to accomplish at times ...

I know Foamie dear, little by little is a big thing to do, no way it can happen easily.

I love the last stanza of the poem, oh how I would love to be loved like that. ♡

If only...

this is a new poet for me. nice to learn.
im inspired:

if you forget me
you are a chump
you'll miss my mac and cheese
and my perfectly rounded rump

i forgot you and
took your shit to the dump
i burned your guitars
and the bicycle pump

let's forget each other
cause you're dumber than a stump
and im no prize either
just a bitchy little grump

wow. mine just isnt nearly as compelling. ah well back to the drawing...er, writing desk

Lol K9 my dear, er I mean Rottweiler, it's very imaginative, I love it.
I also enjoy cooking macaroni and cheese, one of my favourite 'comfort dishes'.

So is this poem for me, you dont really think I'm a bitchy little grump do you? I hope not.

This poem wasnt posted for anyone in particular, just appealed to my over romantic soul, have to do something about that and hey I've missed you, its lovely to have you visit. ♡

I hope all is fine at Chickory. :)

A lot of laughing there /t. dear, I'm pleased that K9 made you happy; she writes a good poem. ♡

Lol bitchy little grump , you would never do that to the Big Dawg, he is just too nice and I dont believe you could ever be bitchy or grumpy.
So pleased it wasnt about me. :) ♡

Dianne,

I was happy to read your reply to Boneman. I think I've told you before that I firmly believe when you stop trying, suddenly love jumps right in front of you and says "Howdy! I'm just right for you!" But when you're looking, it can't find you.

And even when love finds you, there will be some frustration and disappointment. But you can still have fun.

XO

dianne said...

Thanks Holly Fantastic Forrest , you are very sweet.

I have definitely stopped looking or even trying to find someone to share my life... I think it would be quite unlikely that someone would jump out right in front of me and say that to me, it would be nice though. XO

You just never know, maybe he's out there already looking for someone just like me but I dont hold out much hope. ♡

Yeah, Old Pablo, remember him well. We used to go bar hopping every night, he was always so drunk it amazed me he could even hold a pencil much less write. The poem you posted is great, but few people know his real forte was ribald limericks.

dianne said...

Thanks Phossy dear, I'm pleased you enjoyed the poem I posted.
I had no idea he was like that but then a lot of those artisitc people do like their alcohol; you know so much I didnt realise that he wrote limericks as well. ♡
