From Sonnet LXXXI

No one else, Love,
will sleep in my dreams.
You will go,
we will go together,
over the waters of time.
No one else will travel
through the shadows
with me,
only you, evergreen,
ever sun, ever moon.

Pablo Neruda

For dearest, C.B.

A lovely poem, Dianne. I too like Pablo Neruda. Perhaps you remember the poem that I posted on Kieslowski's World, many years ago?

LOVE
Because of you,
In gardens of blossoming flowers;
I ache from the perfumes of spring.

I have forgotten your face,
I no longer remember your hands;
How did your lips feel on mine?

Because of you,
I love the white statues drowsing in the parks;
The white statues that have neither voice nor sight.

I have forgotten your voice,
Your happy voice;
I have forgotten your eyes.

Like a flower,
To its perfume I am bound;
To my vague memory of you.

I live with pain,
That is like a wound;
If you touch me you will do me irreparable harm.

Your caresses enfold me,
Like climbing vines;
On melancholy walls.

I have forgotten your love,
Yet I seem to glimpse you;
In every window.

Because of you,
The heady perfumes;
Of summer pain me.

Because of you,
I again seek out the signs that precipitate desires:
Shooting stars, falling objects.

Today was a hot May Sunday. A very hot day, in fact. Too hot to do much except wander in and out of the study. And think of the past...

Hello dearest one, I did not realise you had left a message for me, I have been thinking about you and wondering how you are! I only visit here when I see a message from you in my email, but this message didn't reach my email. I have missed you and for some reason I felt compelled to leave you a message in the early hours of this morning. I'm so pleased that I have come here.
Yes I do remember this poem which you posted on Kieslowski's World! It is a very beautiful, romantic and visual poem...a love remembered but causing some pain. Why does love and life have to be so complicated?
Why can't we seize these moments and be alive in them? I see much beauty when I read these words...so close yet not within reach. I also see gardens, flowers and trailing vines. Such a lovely place to be, in s garden.
I hope you are enjoying your early Summer weather? The trees, gardens and hedgerows must me blooming with beautiful flowers and alive with the songs of birds. I have seen images of many beautiful garden spaces in fair England, your soft blue skies and gentle green landscapes. It rained here this week, the first rain for two months, so everything was very dry. The water table must be low as trees are dying. It's cooler here now, so the weather is more tolerable.
I often think of the past and what could have been. Life goes on here just the same, the only highlights, messages from you, trees, plants and flowers, listening to the birds singing and I have decided to take up embroidery again, heritage embroidery if I can manage it. I'm so sorry I missed your message, you know I would never ignore you. Take care dear one and enjoy the beauty that your Summer holds!
Much love, Dianne xoxox

The sky is dark and cloudy but there is a beautiful crescent moon glowing high in the North Eastern sky, I just checked! X
