I Will Remember ...

I will always remember your words to me
Memories you have shared
Of feelings and places close to you
I won’t let them fade away
They always bring happiness
Like new flowers in bloom
Words like petals opening
Blossoming in sunny fields
I will keep them close by me
To remember you each day
A glimpse into your world
Through destinations and time
Heartfelt memories revealed
Within the words you share
For amongst your words are woven
Precious feelings from the past
Of people and places remembered
How their warmth has touched your heart
I keep your words close to me
For when you are away
I have something of you to remember
Hoping you will return one day ...

I walked across the cobbles
Stopping by the stable post
The noise of the ball behind
Sentiments on me long lost

I staring at the stone and straw
The occasional laugh far away
Whilst appeared a girl beneath
My outstretched arm by the door

Continually staring up at me
She placed her hand on my leg
Her fingers pointing downward
Her afraid heart looking upward

Her eyes followed to pull
Me back from my turn away
Sincerely I knew her not
As dark night was from day

Her arrow tense in her bow
Not the slightest motion now
Not the slightest thought how
To move from this impasse

One fraction of mistake
One disturbance of the air
And so she stood looking
With her eyes and her lips

To breathe I think, since
I felt her warm sweet breath
Brush against my flushed cheek
I need not have imagined it

My stern look turning back to her
How dare you the silent reprimand
But not a change of her intention
Whilst her hand moved not an inch

Though brazen she was never
Propriety strictly not in question
She had simply strayed her hand
From her heart allowing it to fall

Coincidentally stopping me or not
Placing it to stop me, to stop me
What do you want, my gaze enquired
Just this, just this she replied

Without a word.

Thank you dearest C.B , dear one for this beautiful poem, it has touched my heart. I hardly know how to reply, how could I write something so lovely... so using some of your beautiful words as a prompt I have written my own humble piece of prose.

You walked across the cobbles
Stopping by the stable post
The noise of the ball behind
Sentiments on you long lost

Whilst staring at the stone and straw
I followed you a little way
I slipped beneath your outstretched arm
Whilst leaning on the stable door

I looked up at you constantly
Trying to hold you with my gaze
My hand fell upon your leg
My heart feeling much afraid

My dark eyes followed to pull you back
As I knew you would turn away
Sincerely you did not know me
As dark night was from day

There was no arrow in my bow
You were always free to go
The only thing that held you
My lips and soft, dark eyes

One fraction of mistake
One disturbance of the moment
I could not bear to spoil it
This precious stolen moment

To breathe or not, I did not know
I didn’t want to let you go
I hardly dared take a breath
In case you slipped away

I wasn’t sure if this was a dream
Surely it couldn't be
You in the moonlight close to me
Or could this be reality?

You need not have imagined
That was my breath
My warm sweet breath
It brushed against your flushed cheek

Brazen I was never
My propriety not in question
My hand had simply slipped
From where it held my heart

Your stern look turning back at me
"How dare you" your silent reprimand
To delay you not my intention
Though my hand moved not an inch

Coincidentally stopping you or not
Placing it to stop you, or stop you not
What do you want? Your gaze enquired
Just this moment, I replied

Not a word was spoken
