Silence

Since I lost you I am silence-haunted,
Sounds wave their little wings
A moment, then in weariness settle
On the flood that soundless swings.

Whether the people in the street

Like pattering ripples go by,
Or whether the theatre sighs and sighs
With a loud, hoarse sigh:

Or the wind shakes a ravel of light
Over the dead-black river,
Or night's last echoing
Makes the daybreak shiver:

I feel the silence waiting

To take them all up again
In its vast completeness, enfolding
The sound of men.

Melancholijny jest Twój wiersz, ale ciekawy. Pozdrawiam.
Your poem is melancholy, but interesting. Yours.

An emotionally laden, melancholy-draped piece. Pretty but sad.

very beautiful poem by D H Lawrence, Dianne.
I can see why it has an appeal for you.

Did you know his ashes are interred in Taos, New Mexico? Perhaps mixed in with the cement of his memorial?
I read that on wikipedia. odd bit of trivia, don't you think?

Hello Dear,
How are you? Hope you are doing well. I have been a lot busy for last so many months This new place and new job occupied me like anything, or rather I wanted to be so busy that I could not get time to think about anything. Surprisingly it happened :). Lot of work, new people, new challenges. things are improving with me. I have not been able to write anything though.

It is always good to read your poem . "Uncertainties" is really beautiful. I am not sure whether to keep my blog active. Its been dead for an year now and also it reminds of things about which I don't want to think. I guess I'll end up deleting it.
Planning to start another one with some good things in my head.

Lots of love
xoxoxo

Take care
Shweta

Thank you dearest Foamy , yes it is a beautiful poem and it holds a special significance for me; sometimes the silence in my life is deafening.

No, I did not know that Lawrence's ashes were interred in Taos, New Mexico. Yes, that is an odd bit of trivia but wikipedia is filled with surprises.

Take care lil sweet pea!

Thank you sweetest Elia for your kind words and birthday wishes, it was on the 4th and thank you for remembering.
Also for the video link with the kitty singing Happy Birthday, it is so cute.
As you know I have not been well and have had many problems with Matthew since his accident, I had no words for a poem of my own, so I thought I would post this favourite of mine.
Love, hugs and kisses my friend ^^

Hello dear Shweta , it is lovely to hear from you again. So a new location, new job, new challenges and friends, that sounds like a fresh start and not being able to think of anything can be a good way to fall into what you really need. Remember the words of Rilke which I posted in September, they are thoughtful words of good advice.

I am still wandering through life alone, not that it really matters, the older I get the less important it seems to be, I find plenty of things to occupy my time. I'm pleased that you enjoyed my poem 'Uncertainties', it was the last time I have been inspired to write; I don't seem to have much enthusiasm for poetry at present...hopefully it is not a permanent state. :)
I hope you will start another blog it will be good to hear about your life.
Thank you for stopping by sweet girl and please return again.
Take care dear Shweta, lots of love, Dianne.
