Words of Love Unspoken

I closed my heart
Not to feel you
Or the love that welled
Inside just for you
And my eyes shut tight
Not to see you
To quell the desire
That I felt in your sight
Turned my face
So I could not want you
Your written words
Had touched me so
To hide the tears
Of heartache
The one's that so often fell
The many hours in silence
Alone without you
Sadness my only friend
And finally with resignation
I closed my mouth
not to whisper
The waiting words of love
I wished to tell ...

Poem by Dianne Dee ... ♥
Image - Muchacha de Espalda - Salvador Dali - 1925 (1904-1989)

Hello Dianne,
The painting by Salvador Dali and his poem is beautiful, sensitive, has everything to do with the image.
I also enjoyed learning to dance in the rain! Great!

Yes dear Hliza sometimes one has to close their heart, or try to in order to protect their feelings from a love that cannot be when that love is not returned. It does not stop the love inside, one can only hope that in time the feelings will pass.
Thank you for your kind words.
Hugs, Dianne.

There is such heartache in unrequited love but you expressed it so eloquently and beautiful, in a way that truly moved me.

The picture is a lovely work of art and it is a perfect companion to express the story of emotions ~

Thank you dear Fiona for your very thoughtful comment of my poem and this post.

Yes, I thought the Dali painting was a perfect choice as there was a sadness about her demeanour that seemed to reflect my feelings.

Thank you dearest Foamy , I am pleased that you liked my poem and of course the Dali painting is beautiful.
It has been an awful weekend, heavy rain, high winds and storms ... too miserable to even go for a walk.
I hope tomorrow will be better.

I am pleased to hear that you are well Foamy dear. Yes I saw the terrible weather you were experiencing a little while back and since you are now in Fall I thought you might get some rain. We had some beautiful days last week, it was very warm 32ºC on Friday then this big change on Friday night. Today is cool again but not windy or raining ... so far. :)

dianne said...

No dear J Cosmo , I am not giving anyone the 'cold shoulder' and I think the girl in the painting is enjoying the Spanish sunshine.
Thanks for your comment. :)

dianne said...

Oh, thank you dear /t. , I am so pleased that you liked this poem, especially when you gave it a 'wow'!.
It is sad but somehow I was able to express just how I was feeling.

I hope you liked the painting by Salvador Dali, a style that is very different from his usual works of art in 'surrealism'.

Bonsoir Dianne ,
Google's traduction is never quite the right meaning but i can grasp the essential of it .
Your poem is beautiful and touchful .
I hope you're doing well .

J Cosmo Newbery said...

I just re-read your comment. Why would you think I was saying that you were giving someone a cold shoulder? I don't understand. It looked as if the lady had an extra-ordinary warm shoulder. Hence my comment. Nothing deeper than that.

dianne said...

Thank you dear Muriel for your lovely comment. Yes the Google traduction is not accurate and I am sure that the true essence of the poem is lost in the translation... hopefully some of it is retained.
I am well now thank you. :)

you definitely are a real poet and you have become the master of combining words to image. I love the two together; the searing rawness of the emotion beside this rather weirdly quiet painting. bravo.

dianne said...

Thank you chickory dear friend for this lovely comment. You know I don't think of myself as a poet, I feel the emotions and see the images then compose a poem in words around the two ...I guess that is being poetic.
I am so pleased that you liked the honesty in this poem, it is a true account of my feelings.
I thought the Dali painting was perfect, she sits in silence turning her face, not to see and not to feel.
