Looking Skywards This Afternoon

Today was a pleasant day considering that it is Winter, the temperature peaked at about 16º Celsius, much warmer than yesterday which had the coldest June morning recorded in 61years. No snow here but colder than the average Sydney temperature ... just plenty of frost on the grass, ice on my car windscreen, the water in the hose was frozen and a chilly minus 2ºC.
I do realise dear friends that these are 'tropical' temperatures compared to the blizzards and freezing temperatures you experience in the Northern Hemisphere ... :-)
There was plenty of snow in the colder areas of inner New South Wales and great conditions for the snowfields.

I couldn't resist photographing my tree again today, this time from different angles, it looked so pretty as the blue colour of the sky changed considerably when the clouds obscured the brightness of the sun momentarily until it broke through again in all of its pristine Winter beauty, sitting low in the northern sky.
There are still remnants of green leaves hanging on to the branches, as are the amber, gold and russet leaves, just waiting for that sharp breeze to come along and scatter them to begin their random journey...

Please enlarge the photographs for a more detailed view... ♥

Winter is a good time for meditation and regrouping. Sounds like you're taking advantage of it.

Trees are amazing! I love the fresh buds in Spring, the glorious colours of Autumn and the graceful skeletal forms in Winter.

Lovely photos Dianne.... looks like a crisp Winter day. We're in the middle of our Summer here in the UK and it's very muggy just now.

Thank you dear chickory ,
the trees do look beautiful like this, the thinning leaves define the shape of their framework, yet another glimpse at a phase of their beauty. xoxo ♡

Thanks dear Kathleen , Winter is a great time for thoughtful observation, life seems to move at a slower pace and I am spending more time looking at the beauty of my surroundings. xoxo ♡

Thank you dear /t.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my photos.
Yes the trees are beautiful in all of the seasons ... the colours of the leaves and the light attracted my attention and then the gorgeous blues of the sky as they changed so dramatically within a short space of time.
My cell phone again, I am no photographer but when I see something so lovely as these unique compositions I just had to photograph them ... a moment in time which we will never happen quite the same again. xoxo ♡

Thank you dear Foamy , yes it was a wonderful day, the coolness of the air with the the clear bright light of the Winter sun.
So pleased that you loved the photos, the top one is beautiful, when you enlarge it the pattern of the leaves and brances reminds me of an oriental printed silk screen. xoxox ♡

Thank you dear Lesley , yes trees are beautiful in all seasons, even when they are completely bare and just a skeleton of branches.
Fairly soon there will be tiny green shoots forming and the tree will undergo another cycle of its amazing life.
It was very cold here today, so different to yesterday, the sky was grey and forboding, the sun was up there somehwhere but its bright light didn't break through the clouds ... I was wishing for a little summer weather myself but not the humidity. xoxox ♡

I wonder if your trees ever complain to each other about the paparazzi.

If you've noticed the painting of my blogheader.
It was inspired as i stood one late autumn day by the roadside between sad leafless trees longing for the warm sun.

One reason, i could nt think of living in the city is because there are'nt enough of trees around.
A tree....is a part of my everyday consciousness symbol. i can hold and behold them much from within, and without.
My saddest moments i have often shared with them...i have always felt listened to....
i have learnt from their precious wisdom
to touch my roots, and watch buds and blossoms, leaves and twigs....
a tree is a silent friend who sings to your heart!
Lovely hommage you offer here!
Thankyou Dianne!

Nice trees! I love Fall, the colors change, the cold snap and deer hunting starts. Unfortunately I hate snow, so here I am in AZ.

Thank you dear Craftsman
yes my friend I have looked at your painting of your blog header many times and admired its beauty, the warmth of the autumn sky, one of your leafless trees resembles that of a sad face ... now I understand that it is longing for the warm sun.
Like you trees are very important to me, they never fail to amaze me with their changing beauty throughout all seasons and in all kinds of weather.
I could not be content to live in a place without trees, they are something which I see every day and look for ... there would be a void in my life. I feel there is something spiritual about trees, they stand like a living symbol to life and renewal and when you walk through a forest their very presence provides reassurance and puts life into perspective. xoxox ♡

Thanks Phossy dear, I know you love trees and the changing colours of the fall leaves, there is something very lovely about the coldness in the air, the scents of the forest, the soft sounds of the leaves underfoot on the forest floor and the call of birds. xoxox ♡
