She Walks In Beauty ...

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softy lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron. 1788-1824

Thank you dear Maha that is very kind of you, I have posted it in my sidebar amongst my other favourite pictures and awards ... it is my first 'Kreative Blogger' award. :) xoxo ♡

Thank you dearest Foamy

As always a very lovely comment from you my dear friend ... :) xoxo ♡

Maybe 'romantic fool' or 'hopeless romantic' would be a more appropriate description for me ...
yet I cannot help myself it's just the way I am.

A mind at peace - good to have.

Lovely poem, a most fitting illustration.

Thank you dear J Cosmo

Yes, a mind at peace would be such a blessing...

It is a lovely poem and I found this image quite by accident whilst searching for paintings by Dante Gabriel Rosetti and John William Waterhouse, whose image 'Borea', I did use for my tragic poem "Are You Gone Forever' as the expression on her face seemed to fit the sadness of the poem and the movement of the cold wind blowing the flowers away, just like my chances of happiness...

Do not be alarmed and please don't worry about me, I don't need a man in my life to 'complete' me, I'm just very sad about the apparent loss of this very profound friendship. xoxo ♡

Where pray tell is this wacky parallel universe where love and innocence seamlessly go together?

dianne said...

I don't know Puggles my sweet, definitely not here for there is no love but plenty of innocence. xoxo ♡

Now I'm puzzled - why do you think that I think you need a man to 'complete' you? I am certain I never said nor thought such a thing.

Im sorry dear J Cosmo
I have confused you my friend, you had been so kind and thoughtful to me in the past over another emotional outburst that I made and amongst my other good friends gave me some thoughtful advice about moving on.
You also said my poem 'Are You Gone Forever' was sad and that you hoped I found my knight, as I had mentioned looking for a knight in my 'silley' poem ... I said I wasn't it was just a poem.
I wrote that message to Alexander who has been my friend for such a long time, I was surprised at his change of heart, I really don't understand what has happened with us,maybe one day he will tell me, we have had no cross words or falling out as far as I know ... time will work things out.
I was just letting you know that even though I am terribly upset you don't have to worry about me this time ... I will cope without making myeslf ill like I did last time.
Thank you for caring. xoxo ♡

Hi Dianne,

I love these beautiful fairy tale illustrations. I have many books of these in my library and they are always a joy.

Thanks.

Painter

P.S. By the way my blog has severe technical problems and most of my posts have evaporated.

dianne said...

Thanks Painter dear friend,

yes these illustrations are lovely, many have a Victorian feel to them and remind me of the illustrations in old books.

I noticed you are having problems with your blog, I was trying to leave a comment and it would not allow me to do so. I looked at your profile for an e-mail address so that I could inform you of the problem but as there was none I hoped you would soon be aware that something was awry ... I hope it will all be sorted out soon for you.
I think the new header and title are just beautiful, I love your painting. xoxoxo ♡
