Holding Moments ...

Thoughts of you come to me
When I sense you passing my way
Holding moments forever
Memories of other days
Happiness filled my heart
When you told me of your days
Your words linger like a melody
From a song of yesterday
Keeping them close to my heart
Before they drift away ...

Poem - Dianne Dawes ... ♥
For my dear friend C.B.

I passed a willow tree
It was only yesterday
When I thought of you and me
It was like a dream away

Sometimes I'm lonely
Sometimes I'm pensive
Sometimes I'm like a blade of grass
A moment there and then I'm passed

Isn't it funny how
You and me know the tree
Whilst no-one else on earth
Knows what is between you and me

Tick tock tick tock
You know there are those
Who are always trying to catch up
Catch up is what they play

But you and I and Nureyev
Dance on and around to oblivion
Swirling high above the crowd
Until our toes touch gently.

I wrote this after looking at some old photographs of places from the past. I looked up and just didn't know where I was. I truly didn't. I couldn't recognize the walls around me. I turned around and was suddenly lost, like a child is sometimes... and frightened. It happened to me as a child, maybe coming home from infant school. In those days, you walked home. The memory which lasts me the longest and has never left me is that of my mother stroking my hair as I lay in my bed and all my worries, every single worry of the day, faded away in between her delicate fingers as they brushed my forehead very slowly. In that moment, I was transported to a summer field with cowbells heard in the distance. Try as I might, I cannot escape thinking that I will be with her once again very soon. Or rather, she will return, very much alive, back to this earth and appear at my side and beg forgiveness for being away for so long. In fact, I am very sure that this will happen. And funnily enough, you're there too, as my friend that I want her to meet.

I love the way you write your poems, with a touch of sensibility and sentimentalism.

Dear one, dearest C.B. , it is so lovely to read your gentle words once more. Thank you, such a beautiful, sensitive poem. I feel lonely, pensive and hopeless sometimes but I must go on and make the most of my life as it is. It would be lovely to be dancing and swirling around with you high above the crowd. Our tree holds a very special connection between the two of us,something that cannot be touched, only deeply felt.
I'm sorry that you were feeling lost and frightened and didn't know where you were, the world is a frightening place sometimes. I do hope you are not ill? We all walked to school when we were young, admiring the trees and flowers, jumping in puddles when it had rained, feeling the comforting warmth of the sun after the rain and clouds had gone. We were safe then, how times have changed. A lovely memory of your Mother, her gentle hand stroking your soft hair as you lay safe and warm in your bed. Many happy memories to look back on, summer fields and the distant sound of cowbells. Your Mother has always seemed like a beautiful, loving person from how you have described her to me over the years. I would love to meet her if it were at all possible, I would be honoured. Please don't leave too soon, I would miss you far too much, my heart would feel empty.

Take care, your loving friend, Dianne.

Ballet makes you dream. And that is what life is all about. Dreams. You dream. I dream. If you have ever been to a ballet and seen the magic, experienced it, felt it then flying metres into the air does not strike anyone as unusual. It's the most natural expression ever, of life. Of energy. Of essentialness. It's the bipolar opposite of stuffy, dead, white-coated scientists who simplify life's essence into mere chemicals and electrical impulses. Such brainless beings are not only thoughtless but dangerous in their ill-thought-out explanations of life and its origins. I saw an orange and purple sunset today. I nearly fainted.

Thank you dearest C.B. , yes I have experienced the beauty and magic of ballet, it is wonderful to feel the emotion, the energy and be transported by the choreography, the costumes, the stage sets and the music to another dimension.
When I was a young girl I studied ballet and loved the experience but I was never talented or disciplined enough to pursue it as a career...I was too much of a dreamer. I have many dreams and there is so much beauty in this world which touches me. Your orange and purple sunset sounds wonderful, sunsets are an amazing phenomenon, the colours so beautiful and every one unique.
Try not to faint dear one, though some beauty and encounters make us feel that way.
Some of these white-coated scientists and doctors you mention are two dimensional people, who lack imagination and a sense of wonder, who do not feel or experience life as we do and must explain and justify everything in mathematical equations and basic elements...but we must not generalise, as not all are inclined to be so rigid in their opinions.
On another subject altogether, I wanted to tell you that I was finally successful in locating and buying some yellow flowering crocosmia corms in Australia, they are so difficult to find here. So far I have lovely green strappy leaves but as yet no flower buds but I live in hope. As you know I love the colour yellow and your yellow crocosmia flowers looked so lovely in your garden. Flowers, trees and gardens, yet another source of happiness.
Keep on dreaming my dear and stay well.
Your loving friend, Dianne
