Autumn Light

My patio rose on the kitchen window sill in yesterday afternoon's Autumn light. This rose is unusual in that it produces flowers with different shades of colour, from a deeper apricot pink (see image January 27, 2015) to this golden beauty. If I leave the flowers on the plant they will fade to white.
Note the damage to my insect screen from the native Sulphur Crested Cockatoos.

The same rose in this morning's soft Autumn light. The temperature earlier today was cool and fresh but now the day has warmed, it is very hot in the sun, around 30 degrees Celsius. Summer days are reluctant to leave.

I am really under the weather, terrible headaches, sinus congestion and this rose on the window sill... well, it's nice and it helps freshen the air. Thank you. You are in my prayers at night. The subtle fragrance of a rose can lift one's spirits. My cat Irenka has just leapt on my lap, lightly as cats do when they want to stay somewhere for a good while. Hmm... Yes, she has good senses for the smell of roses. Her nose is in the air now and oh, oh, her pawwwww has reached for the keyboard now... Hmmm. Now she's pushing her nose up under my wrist while I type. Always wants attention! I have to stop and give her a stroke. Cats... Un de ces jours. :-)

Dearest C.B. thank you for stopping by again, I am always happy to see your messages here.
I am so sorry that you are under the weather; sinus congestion and headaches will make you feel miserable. Are you taking any medications to relieve your symptoms?
Try putting some Vicks Vaporub (I believe it is available in the U.K) in a bowl of hot water and inhaling the steam, it contains menthol and eucalyptus oil and is good for relieving that stuffy feeling in the nose and sinuses. A natural saline pump spray for the nose from a pharmacy can also help; "FLO" brand or the equivalent would be beneficial, also some pain medication.
If you have a bacterial infection then of course you will also need antibiotics. I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for praying for me, that is a great comfort to hear. I still say my special prayer for you each night.
Yes, the subtle fragrance of a rose is never too strong unlike some lilies which are beautiful but have an overpowering fragrance and give me a headache, like some very strong perfumes.
I am so pleased that you have little Irenka she is such a pretty little cat. Yes, cats love affection and attention and are great company. Mine have been taking good care of me. Mine also like to always be close by and like to walk across my computer keyboard.
My youngest son Andrew rescued a young cat from a car park one night on his way home from work. It was being harassed and hurt by some youths who were trying to burn him with a cigarette lighter, so my son grabbed the poor cat and said the cat belonged to him and he would call the police. They took off in a hurry. How cruel, I don't understand how people can be so evil. My son inquired in the shops to ask if anyone owned the cat but they could not help him. He advertised locally but no-one came forward. Meanwhile he took the cat to the vet to have him checked over as his leg seemed to be injured. He was about a year old the vet said, he had not been micro-chipped or neutered and from his general health had been neglected. So Andrew had him vaccinated, micro-chipped, neutered, had his leg attended to and some antibiotics as he was ill and he now has a very loving place to live and a very loving owner in my son. He is such an affectionate little kitty, Andrew has named him Bob Biscuits as he liked his cat biscuits so much. He looks similar to Irenka, black with white paws, socks, chest, neck and chin. Thankfully a happy, healthy new life for Bob Biscuits.
Take care dear one, I hope you are feeling much better in yourself soon.

Thank you dear Marty for your kind words, I am feeling a little better today.
The rose is very pretty and the images are average, I used my cell phone camera for the photos, a good camera would have been better.
Have a happy week!

Dear dianne,
It's so good to see you out and about again. The Rose is lovely. I'm sure the cockatoos are not so lovely when they are chewing on your window screen though. Here's to cooler weather for you and warmer weather for us.
Be well ..

Thank you dear Foamy , for your kind words. Yes, it is good to be able to walk around my garden, though I am not venturing too far from home.
The cockatoos are very destructive, they chew the flowers from my plants and have ruined all of the window screens on the back of the house.
I am looking forward to cooler days, it is so hot again today, I will send some of the warmth to you.
Take care dear friend.

Hello dear Roselle ,

Thank you so much for visiting and for your sweet words and kind wishes.
I am recovering slowly, not as quickly as I had hoped. My surgeon told me on Wednesday that the discomfort and tiredness I am experiencing is to be expected due to the severity of the infection I had.
I have a lovely view of my garden from my kitchen window, my garden is a tranquil place with many birds visiting each day.
I am sorry you cannot grow roses successfully in your climate. It is quite humid here and some of my roses get 'black spot' on their leaves but I won't use poisonous sprays because of the birds and small creatures who live in my garden.
God bless you for your kindness and take care!
