Memories of Yesterday

So sweet is the feeling

That love brings to the heart

The first consciousness

Of its presence

Brings a blush of warmth

And expectation

A feeling of happiness

And anticipation

Like an open window

On a sunny morning

The light flows in

And encompasses all

With its warm brightness

A garden of colour

Of new spring flowers

You breathe in the beauty

Everything in the world

Seems more lovely

The flowers are more scented

The sky is so blue

The birds sing more sweetly

All is right with the world...

But time can change so much

It seems nothing lasts forever

Since you are not here

The clouds of doubt move in

On my sunshine days

Sad when one feels

They should move on and forget

But I cannot

Well not yet …

The past is calling me

And my heart is still lost

In your words and memories

Of yesterday…
