Memories of You

My memories of you
Are like sunshine on flowers
Their brightness always
Lights the hours
When the days are grey
And you’re not here
I wonder why
Have you no words to share?
I look to the clouds
To wish them away
Hoping to find you
In the sun’s first rays…

THE BUS WAS WAITING THERE

You my biscuits in your pocket
I had last night's candle in mine
I told you not to bring your music
But you insisted, you always did

The bus was waiting there
But I decided to remain
You can always catch buses
They'll always wait for you

I watched you from the table
As you walked off into the sun
You insisted on taking your music
Leave it with me, I said to you

Did we meet again, I don't know
You had this habit of knowing
Just where you were going then
Or at least that's what I thought

Now it's four in the morning
The pigeons walk about for more
scraps and I'm still there
in the corner of the square.

It is great to be left with fond memories of someone. It is also difficult to find a person with whom we could have experiences worth comparing to the beauty of nature. If we do chance upon such an encounter, it must be cherished forever.

Your poem is so sweet. <3

Dear Roger , thank you for your lovely words, love inspires and ignites feelings and allows us to write wonderful things. The red poppy is very significant, whether to evoke love or celebrate the sacrifice so many have made. After all of the misery of war and the bloodshed, it is nice to know that the red poppy was the last thing of beauty that they may have seen before dying. The fields of Flanders and many other countries in Europe are covered with red poppies.Thank you for sharing all of this information with me, that pertaining to France in particular. We celebrate Remembrance Day here on November 11th, we wear red poppies and also on Anzac Day, April 25th, where poppies and sprigs of rosemary are worn for remembrance.
Thank you, yes the red poppy is a powerful symbol and it was so nice to talk about poppies and their significance with you.

Gros bisous

Thank you dearest C.B. for the poem and the link to the Main Square in Krakow, the architecture is very beautiful; the row of columns looked familiar.
Wonderful to watch the people coming and going about their day via the Webcam. The restaurant and cafe umbrellas, the trees, pigeons, bicycle riders, cars, delivery vans, the white coach and horses, such a busy place. Though I could not see a bus.:)

This prose has echoes of sweet Weronika, I wonder were you thinking of her when you composed this; for Iréne carried biscuits in her coat pocket and Weronika, her sheet music in a folder. Remember, she dropped her music folder in the Market Square in Krakow when one of the protesting students ran into her and knocked her to the ground.

I began to write a poem in response to yours about how I had caught three buses just to meet you, hoping you would be there. Just like the young man who missed two trains so that he could catch the train which was carrying his beloved, just to be near her and breathe in her perfume as she passed by.
As for me I have only ever been insistent about matters of great importance, not my sheet music. :)
As for your prose, I wonder if I walked off into the sun would you notice my shining, golden-brown hair? Would we meet again? I hope we would.
Is it a coincidence that my eyes are a greenish-brown; I have two coats one black and one is red? Once I did know where I was going but now I’m not so sure. But I know I would catch as many buses as was necessary to meet you, hoping you would be there.
And if it was four in the morning I would not leave you alone in the corner of the square with only the pigeons and one candle to keep you warm.
I hope you enjoyed my poem and the beautiful poppies?
Take care dear one, it was so lovely to hear from you once more.
Love and hugs

Thank you dear Sui for your thoughtful words.
Yes, it is lovely to have fond memories of a special person but so much more difficult to find someone who feels the same, who would put the same special significance and importance on having your love and friendship.
It would be so lovely to be cherished but it will never happen.
I am pleased that you liked my poem.

Hello dear Shweta

Thank you for your kind words, it is so lovely to hear from you. I was thinking about you the other morning and wondering how you are. It would be a big adjustment moving to a new country and a new life. I hope you are well and happy my dear?
I am not doing so great at present, nothing too serious, I need surgery on my knee from a fall I had quite a few years back.
I don't know when that will happen but I hope I will be as good as new when it is done.

It would be very nice to read your writing again and to hear about your new life.
Love and hugs sweet Shweta,
Dianne.
