Early Last Evening...

Some images of the aftermath of last nights hail storm. I have been hoping for some Autumn showers, my wish has come true. There was a deluge of rain on the Saturday night of last weekend, which caught me by surprise and I could not get back to my car for at least half an hour, not until the rain had cleared a little.
Last night was quite a light show, dark skies, crashes of thunder, flashes of lightning, then came the deluge of rain and hail stones all whipped up by the wind. The visibility was practically zero, I was so pleased to be at home. The noise was deafening and many hail stones hit my glass doors and windows, thankfully no breakages.
I actually find storms quite invigorating, you can feel the change in the atmospheric pressure, a sudden coolness in the air and the scent of rain. I am not fond of storms if I am driving.
These photos were taken after the storm had eased, some of my trees and plants are a little damaged as there are leaves and bark everywhere, I will clean up tomorrow.
When I did venture outside the air was cool and refreshing with the beautiful scent of the rain mixed the many fragrant leaves such as the Lemon Scented Gum, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus which had been torn by the ice. It was lovely to walk outside and feel the icy hail stones crunch beneath my shoes, perhaps one day there will be snow; I can only hope.

Tu as dû avoir peur, le bruit aidant !

Wow! The photos are great! I am so glad that you have gotten some percipitation. Rain can be invigorating! Hail? If it does not create too much havoc it's pretty cool. It looks like your plants survived fairly well. I'm glad you had no hail damage.
Our last snow storm a couple of weeks ago took down 5 leyland cypresses.
We are expecting another snow storm on Tuesday .. :) .. In the meantime, spring is trying to push out old man winter. It's about 20C outside. But, he's been stubborn this year.

Thank you Foamy dear, pleased you liked my photos. I wanted to take some photos as the garden looked so pretty with all of the white hail stones sprinkled everywhere.
I couldn't go outside during the storm as I would have been drenched and the visibility was limited; in the first photo you can see some rain drops on the camera lens and the misty appearance of the air.
No great damage done as the trees protected much of the garden. I raked and swept up some of the bark and leaves today, it will make good mulch for the garden. We certainly need rain here and have had two major storms within a week. I was just relieved that I did not lose any trees, as I have in the past or have any roof tiles, windows or patio doors break.
Summer is still hanging on here, it was hot and humid today, another storm predicted but there was no precipitation at all.
Sorry you lost your leyland cypresses, it is sad to lose trees. I hope your Springtime arrives soon and that snow storm does not eventuate.
Take care sweet friend.

Thank you dear Cosmo , yes, they did look like white flowers or petals sprinkled through the garden and all over the lawn. Some of the hail stones were smallish others the size of golf balls.

Thank you dear Yannis for your thoughtful words. I was very excited to see so many hail stones in and around my garden, it looked so pretty, the white mixed with the green foliage, so I wanted to share this. Yes, it is visual poetry and has its own unique beauty.
Warm hugs my friend.

I enjoy a good storm too, but hail not so much ... it can do so much damage in the garden.

Marty dear, the weather is very strange and unusual with these unpredictable storms. The sun is out today but again yesterday we had torrential rain with flash flooding, a terrible day.
I hope your sunshine and warmth arrives soon. I am looking forward to normal Autumn days which are sunny with a nice coolness to the air.
I wish you a happy week!
bisous

Thank you dear Annie , yes, I enjoy a storm without the hail,it does cause so much damage to the garden, houses and cars. We normally have a storm after a hot and humid day and the drop in temperature, the rain and freshness in the air is lovely.
Have a good week!
