Blue Silence

As the blue of the early evening sky
fades into darkness of night
and envelopes the day
my heart is filled with blue silence...
In the peace of this silence
I look to the stars above
to find my way in the darkness
A promise in their reflected light
and I wait for the brightness of the blue
of a new morning sky as it awakens tomorrow
Where buds await, which were once green
but now show a faint tint of colour
and will soon burst forth with beauty
into flowers of pink and golden yellow.

Forgotten ...

The clock has stopped
Time stands still momentarily
I pause to reflect
I look for you
But you are not there
You are never there
Just a shadow of a memory
In the darkness of time.
You were so sweet
I would have waited forever
But how could I, without one word
One kind gesture, anything from you?
I lost all hope in your absence
In the lonely space of time.
At what moment in time did you stop caring?
You did not say, I was not aware
It was as if you left the room for a moment
and never returned
There I waited in the sad emptiness
of the void you left behind
Wondering, questioning ...
Every flower needs sustenance
or it will fade and die
You left me, wanting, needing
You once were so kind.
Now time moves on once more
And you leave me in that lonely space
That place which is your past.
I have become a forgotten rose,
A vague memory, a shadow.
Just someone you used to know ...

Silence

Since I lost you I am silence-haunted,
Sounds wave their little wings
A moment, then in weariness settle
On the flood that soundless swings.

Whether the people in the street

Like pattering ripples go by,
Or whether the theatre sighs and sighs
With a loud, hoarse sigh:

Or the wind shakes a ravel of light
Over the dead-black river,
Or night's last echoing
Makes the daybreak shiver:

I feel the silence waiting

To take them all up again
In its vast completeness, enfolding
The sound of men.
