The Train and the Journey ...

Same time, same train, the same faces. Goes up. He is situated next to the door. Watches as every morning, the faces of his fellow travelers and smiles to himself. He is happy. Waits on the same platform every day, is located exactly where the third car is unloading the passengers. Expected. Bajan*. Up. She likes to be the last. He takes her perfume as every morning. Does not know that she has missed two trains to see him.

She
nervously looks at him. Does not know that he has missed two seasons for breathe.

A romantic short story written by Carmen Iglesias Vázquez; a crude translation from Spanish. Translations are not without their problems ... in the last line "Do not know that he has missed two seasons for breathe", it is my understanding that he too has missed two trains to see her and to breathe her perfume.
*Bajan - 'Down'

A special thank you to Mediterranean for introducing me to this lovely story ...♥

Nice story of daily routines and platonic love. Who has not had the same shape? I also have had, and that were, in platonic love that never saw the light.

I just don't understand why he has not been arrested for multiple thefts of her perfume. Are the laws different in Spain? Geez.

Also: does he wear a trenchcoat and does he have a relative here in the U.S.? I see a guy on my train who acts similar (stalking passengers), wears a trenchcoat, and slinks away whenever the transit cop is in the vicinity.

Thank you for stopping by Pugsly my sweet.
I don't believe he was 'stealing' her perfume, he was just breathing in her lovely fragrance, he is in love you see.
I don't think there is a law that would forbid that.
Though, there is a law against the 'trenchcoat' wearing stalking voyeur who slinks away IF the transit police are ever about.
There are plenty of voyeurs on the trains here, one has to be careful and 'voyeurism' has reached new heights. I have a story for you. A young female friend of my son's was travelling on the train at night and this fellow kept taking photos of her face, her legs, up her dress. She insisted that he stop, no transit guards around, he wouldn't, so she snatched his phone from his hand and threw it out of the train window. The transit police got involved at the next station as he got quite aggressive and he was charged with assault. Bravo I say!

Is'nt this the first time you opted for prose or perhaps i've been mistaken?

nevertheless the theme is still displayed with certain lyrical sensation to it....and what matters mostly to me is that touches my feelings.
thanks for the sharing!

dianne said...

Dear friend col , I have posted many works of prose here at my blog but this is not my work it is a delightful and romantic short story written by a young woman whose name is Carmen Iglesias Vázquez.
I found it very sweet and touching so I wanted to share it here.
Many hugs
