Garden of Dreams

I came to meet you
In the garden of dreams
In the last dying hours
Of the night
When the stars
Are just fading
And the moonlight
Is waning
Standing there lost
Between day and night
But as the sun rose
I could not see you
In the brilliance
Of its golden light
In my thoughts
You're always with me
Forever in my heart
But if I should
Want to touch you
You're out of reach
And out of sight
I wonder
Were you there?
In the shadows
Watching
Away from the light
For I know
I could not see you

I could not feel you
Just the cold
Of the retreating night ...

Thanks Foamy dear friend for your lovely words of praise and encouragement... me famous ... no, I am happy to write my thoughts and poems here.
I love the Munch, I thought it was perfect for this poem.

I don't think there is any fellow in the shadows who cares or is watching over me Foamy or anyone who is remotely interested in me ... but thanks for the offer.

I hope you are all safe from the hurricane?

Hi Dianne~ You write such beautiful peom...a longing for a loved one that through the sunsets,it intensifies until the darkness brings cold and ending to a day loses hope in the heart. It truly displays how nature nurtures us and can help heal deep emotions within....Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talents! Thanks too for visiting my blog and commenting so kindly..warm regards, Linda :-)

I have a feeling of bittersweet sadness, although I'm still trying to find out why.

dianne said...

Thank you dear Art for your thoughtful words, so nice of you to say. :)

dianne said...

Yes Olga dear, it is bittersweet sadness for it is someone for whom I care,a friend who watches over me from a distance but feels no real attachment to me ...our lives and worlds are so different,an impossible situation.

My theory is that the screamer from "The Scream" saw this guy making the moves on his gal from the bridge.

Lol, dear Pugsley my sweet, yes he was probably looking at 'shadow man' there behind the girl and was wondering whether his intentions were good or sinister. :)

what a perfect paring of image to words! In the Munch litho the negative space seems to be primary while the lady in her white is swallowed into distance. Really good. Your imagery is so fine. Lovely, really lovely.

dianne said...

Thank you dearest chickory , I am so pleased that you liked this post. I thought the Munch image was perfect, the distance between her and the shadowy figure, she senses him but is he really there or just in her imagination willing him there.
