Love . . .

Because of you, in gardens of blossoming flowers
I ache from the perfumes of Spring.

I have forgotten your face, I no longer
remember your hands;
how did your lips feel on mine?

Because of you, I love the white statues
drowsing in the parks, the white statues that
have neither voice nor sight.

I have forgotten your voice, your happy voice;
I have forgotten your eyes.

Like a flower to its perfume, I am bound
to my vague memory of you. I live with pain
that is like a wound; if you touch me, you will
do me irreparable harm.

Your caresses enfold me, like climbing vines
on melancholy walls.
I have forgotten your love, yet I seem to
glimpse you in every window.

Because of you, the heady perfumes of Summer
pain me; because of you, I again seek out the
signs that precipitate desires:
Shooting stars, falling objects.

Poem: Pablo Neruda (1960)

Well. So well. A Fascinating Template decorated with stunning flowers and novel features. A profile so elegant added with Awarded answers. Your sixth answer, it is prayed, be the 'Potion' to keep ever Young and not be effected by time. Words shredded like pearls. The Quote of Pablo with so depth. 'So far away' an agonic song reflecting parallel dreams. Hope and heartly wish 'another sunrise, a new day ' should come. Thanking You for sharing the journey of Your thoughts and with Best Wishes.

very lovely poem by nerudo. it's hard when memories become elusive and vague, esp. if they were once treasured.

it is a lovely sunny 27C here.
I hope you have an equally lovely and a bit cooler fall day.

Thank you dear Ifinder for visiting here and for your lovely and thoughtful comments.
My journey of thoughts has been painful, I now seem to have reached an emotional plateau, neither here nor there, my thoughts just floating, hope floats until it disappears ...
Yes another sunrise, a new day will come but how much happiness shall I find in it, I wonder? Some from nature, yes, I just have to look at the blue of the sky this morning and the sunshine. I do look for it, I seek it but the affection I long for eludes me.
As for the 'Potion', youth and beauty fade and it can only do so much then our own individual time will come to an end. It is the beauty inside that matters, though some cannot open their hearts to see that.

Thank you dearest Foamy , yes it is a beautiful poem, Neruda writes with so much feeling.
My memories have not faded yet, they remain, like a part of me.

I am happy to hear that you have had a sunny day.
It is a lovely morning here too, the sun is shining, the air is fresh and fragrant, the temperature is around 25ºC/77ºF. :)

Thank you dear Kathleen , Pablo must have lived a very exciting and full life with all of the experiences of love and heartbreak, he writes about it with so much depth and understanding of human emotions.
My heart shall lighten in time, I just wanted to be wanted.

Bonjour Dianne,

your verses are as sensitive as your flower children, the small white flower cluster, but they are many related and mutually consolation
you're not alone....

Precioso poema. Pablo Neruda, el más grande poeta del amor en castellano en el siglo XX. Y en el XIX lo fue Gustavo Adolfo Becquer. Besos.

dianne said...

liebe Jasmin , I will always try to find poems of beauty and sensitivity to post here and images to complement them ... and the beauty of Nature, her grasses, trees and flowers, because they are dear to my heart.
I shall never be alone as long as I have my love for Nature, literature and art.
Thank you dear friend.

Gracias por tu comentario.

After reading this poem....i would say let summer still be perfumes, let shooting stars fall at the feet, let every window open...let happiness be in everything that touches us!
Let pain be gone....for what shines within is more powerful than the sun!

"I think there is a Neruda poem for every one of life's memorable moments." Really? What about the time I fell into my grandfather's fishpond?

dianne said...

That is a lovely thing to say dearest col , you are such a romantic soul.
I would agree and say so too, for then there would be no sadness and pain in the hearts of those who love.
Hugs

dianne said...

I see you are quoting me here dear J Cosmo , I should have been more specific with my comment and said that Neruda had a poem for every one of life's memorable, romantic moments.
I did look for a poem of his which may have had a reference to a boy falling in a fishpond but without success...and sorry, at present I cannot find the words to write a poem myself.
I hope that you were not injured at all?

I spoke of Gustavo Adolfo Becquer and here I leave his poetry.

RIMA XXIV

Two red tongues of fire
on the same log that approach
and connect, and when kissing
form a single flame.

Two notes of a lute
plucked simultaneously by a hand,
that meet each other in space
and harmoniously embrace.

Two waves that come together
to die on a beach
and when breaking are crowned
with a silver plume.

Two shreds of vapor
that rise off a lake,
and when reunited in the sky
form one white cloud.

Two ideas that sprout as a pair,
two kisses that explode at the same time,
two echoes that are confused,
those are our two souls.

Thank you dear Leovi , I have enjoyed some of his poems, this one is really beautiful, lovely of you to post it here.

Amid Obscure Shadows
(Rima XXVIII)

When amid obscure shadows
a lost voice murmurs
disturbing its sad calm ...
If in my soul's depths
I hear it sweetly sounding,

tell me, Is it the wind moans
in its convolutions or that
in passing your sighs speak of love?

When the red sun shines
in my window at morning
and my love evokes your shadow,
if I think I feel the press
of another mouth on mine,

tell me, Is it that blind I rave
or that your heart sends me
a kiss in a sigh?

If in the luminous day
and in the deep gloomy night;
if in all that surrounds
my soul that desires you,
I think I can feel and see you,

tell me, Do I feel and think in a dream
or is it that in a sigh
you give me your breath to drink?
