The Space Between Dreams and Daylight

When shall you return to me dear one
My dweller of the shadows
and my dreams
My knight of the forest trees
Are you still there in the shadows
silently watching over me ...
Will you ever step into the light
remove your mask that protects you
and reveal your true heart to me ...

I look for you in the spaces
between my dreams
and waking moments
I look for you
in the glorious promise of the sunrise
as its golden seam streaks the horizon
and lights a darkened sky
A new day dawning
and another chance of hope
that you will return to me ...

I sense you in so many things around me
those of goodness and truth
like little reminders tugging at my heart
and miss you so much ...
Sometimes I feel that you are near
so much that I embrace the air
I reach out for your touch
but it is not returned
you are not there
just emptiness
but still I hope ...

And when the sun is setting
and sinks from the horizon
I sit in silence
And in my moments of quiet reflection
I listen for you
between each breath that I take
between each heartbeat
listening for a word from you
Whispered
the gentle touch of your hand
your hand holding mine
I wait ...

There have been many star-filled nights
when I have looked for you
in the spaces between the moonlit leaves
where you said you would wait for me
You said no Goodbyes
that you would return to me
But when ...

As each day unfolds I wait and hope
but as it ends my heart sinks
just like the dimming sun
and I return to my dreams once more
hoping you will come back for me
hoping to find you there waiting for me
in that misty space between twilight and another dawn ...

L'Hommage du Marc Chagall

' Autumn in the Village '

' The Village Store '

' Lovers and Flowers '

' The White Window '
' Le Bouquet Ardent '
' La Mariée '
' Three Candles '

'Au-Dessus de Paris'

'La Branche'

' Enchantment Vesperal'

'A Wheatfield on a Summer's Afternoon'

These are some of my favourite paintings by Russian- French artist Marc Chagall (7th July 1887 - 28th March 1985) ; I have posted a few of his paintings on my blog over time but would now like to share these with you ... I just love the vibrant colours and their composition ... ♥
I have put a link here to Wikipedia, please go there and read more as there is so much to be said about this amazing and versatile artist and I do not have the space to cover all of the aspects of his career and life.

"He created a unique career in virtually every artistic medium, including paintings, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics, tapestries and fine art prints."
He was known to have two basic reputations, as a pioneer of modernism, and as a major Jewish artist. He experienced modernism's golden age in Paris, where he synthesized the art forms of Cubism, Symbolism and Fauvism, and the influence of Fauvism gave rise to Surrealism. Yet throughout these phases of his style, he remained most emphatically a Jewish artist, whose work was one long dreamy reverie of life in his native village of Vitebsk." * Wikipedia

You will note that I have chosen many of his paintings here depicting 'lovers', his marriage resulted in a series of exuberant paintings of lovers. Some of his major works include theatrical designer for the Jewish State Theatre, executing murals there and his paintings for the ceilings of the Paris Opéra.

I Carry Your Heart With Me

'Les amoureux de Vence' - Marc Chagall

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

An Ancient Forest Dream

If you wish to view the image of Park Hill in the New Forest in Hampshire which was originally posted here, please follow this link, which will take you there ... ♥

I wander through the forest
searching for you there
Soft leaves beneath my feet
sweet scent, the forest air

And as the gentle breeze
wraps 'round me
It stirs and swirls the leaves
And sends a song of rustling
Like a breath through the trees

I look up to the canopy
a myriad of rays
Of sunshine as it glistens
through green and golden leaves

The trees call out and beckon me
to search further on
Deep into the forest
their whispered forest song

Searching for you there
with new hope I wander on
I follow the path of promise
to find you once again

I listen for you in the shadows
hoping you might be there
Such a magic place to meet you
' midst ferns and bracken faire

Hoping for a glimpse of you
in some ancient copse of trees
I look for your footprints
in search of where you have been

With such hope of finding you
I wander further on
You may have left a sign for me
or maybe you have gone ...

As my heart and hopes are fading
like the dimming of the sun
Somewhere I have lost you
my hopes are all un-done

I wonder did I imagine you
I wonder were you real
Or just an echo of a memory
from some ancient forest dream ....

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain

This is a short clip from the film 'Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain', this particular clip is called 'El beso de Amélie' or 'Amélies Kiss'.
I was finally able to watch this film when I found a copy at our local video/dvd rental outlet.
My friend Alexander had recommended the film to me, he had also posted some film clips on his own blog ... I am so grateful that he did ... ♥

It is a truly delightful, entertaining, romantic comedy, it is a whimsical depiction of contemporary Parisian life, set in Montmartre. It tells the story of Amélie, a shy, innocent and naive girl living in Paris; with her own sense of justice, she decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, while struggling with her own isolation ... along the way she discovers love.

I loved this film, so enjoyable, it takes you on quite a journey of fun and a little innocent mischief and one can't help but love Amélie for she is such a sweetheart and she so deserves to find happiness and love ... you just want her destiny to be fabulous ...
One person can change your life forever, it is true, she has changed mine.

The wonderful soundtrack to the film was composed by Yann Tiersen, it carries you along with the magic of the film.

I bought a dvd copy of another film which I think is the favourite of Alexander, it is 'La Double Vie de Véronique' and highly recommended by him, he has reminded me of this on a number of occasions, unfortunately the English subtitles do not show on my dvd player, so I am searching for a copy of that film which I will be able to watch and understand, without lip-reading a language I do not understand so well. :)

Qu'est-ce qui vous m'avez dit Alexandre? "Un ces des jours, Dianne."
Oui! Cher Alexandre, un ces des jours ... ♥

Some notable quotes from the film:

"Without you, today's emotions would be the scurf of yesterday's"

"Times are hard for dreamers"

"A woman without love, wilts like a flower without the sun"

"Love is a great beautician"

Amélie Poulain - Audrey Tautou
Nino Quincampoix - Mathieu Kassovitz
