The Hours

The hours of my life

Are measured in heart beats

And moments of loneliness

When I am not with you

My heart is heavy

From sadness and solitude

I long for the moment

When I shall find you

And be cradled in your arms

Hold me so closely

So that I shall feel whole once again

My journey to find you

Has been lonely

And far too long

I seem to be on an endless search

To find myself within the comfort of you ...

The Hours - Philip Glass
Piano - Branka Parlic
Poem - Dianne D ...♥

Very nicely put. I do hope your search is a successful one.

Thank you dear /t.
That is such a lovely compliment, I love the contemporary classical music of Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Howard Shore and others.
Yes 'The Hours' is a perfect fit for my poem, the music and Branka's amazing talent does take you on a musical journey of sadness, warmth and hope, the music actually inspired my poem.

Thank you dear J Cosmo , for your wishes, you are very kind.
I am pleased that you liked my poem.
I think my search shall be in vain as I don't think such a man exists for me, the good ones are all taken or they are too young.
In a perfect world my life would be different but we cannot always have what we would desire.

Another thoughtful and thought provoking post, Dianne.

Thank you dear Lee , you are most kind, a lot of thought went into this ... I was inspired by the beauty of this music, it just seemed perfect to convey how I was feeling.

Thank you dearest Foamy , yes, beautiful music, a lovely accompaniment to the sentiment of my poem ... but time to stop hoping and searching I think. xoxoxo ♡

Dianne, I implore you to take a Lesson from your fellow Aussie:

"I am strong; I am invincible:
I am Woman..."

dianne said...

You are most kind dear Sir Percy to call upon me here to assist in alleviating me from my present state of desolation...
'tis but a temporary state my friend, for the morrow shall bring another morn, a day filled with sunshine or perchance rain, but I shall appreciate the fragrance of the flowers and the songs of birds.
Soon I shall forget my woes.
But I must press you on this matter and assure you dear Sir that I am not invincible,I am not strong, resilient yes, and I am a Woman, feminine, gentle and kind.
I can assure you dear friend that you would not hear such a vulgar utterance as a 'Roar' come from my sweet mouth, for such a sound is not one befitting a lady.
I thank you again for your concern and your kindness.

I feel every word here... Thanks for sharing such a beautiful piece. True love here. Actually, this is passion.

dianne said...

Thank you dear Opaque , I am pleased that you could feel every word, there is hurt in my words but also warmth and beauty.
Yes love and passion, but both are left unrequited.

Beautiful, dear Poetisa Dianne
Thank You for the creation and the sharing of this emotional post.

dianne said...

Thank you for your kind words of praise dearest friend Anna-Lys , yes my words are emotional, too emotional, I think I have to forget about love.
I don't feel there will be any love in my tomorrows but there are always compensations, the sun may be shining in the morning and I know that the birds will be there to greet me.

Hoping your loneliness turns to aloneness--peace, and the feeling of growing into your own fullness.

I am always happy to come read your poems. Sometimes paired with art, photos and today music, but always interesting and thought provoking! You have so much passion for all that you do and see in life, and are lucky that you can put that down in words!!

I love /t.'s Maple leaf too... it almost looks like a quilt there on your sidebar! very pretty!

Have a wonderful week! x

dianne said...

Thank you dear Kathleen that is very kind of you. Yes I am used to being alone but every so often the 'loneliness' captures my thoughts and makes me feel very sad.
I will be fine, thanks for your thoughts and wishes. xoxoxo ♡

dianne said...

Thanks dear Helene , I'm pleased that you enjoy reading my poems, I do like to pair them with either art, music or a photo, sometimes these reflect the emotion of the poem or are there if someone doesn't care for the poem.
Yes, so much passion for life and the beauty it has to offer but sometimes too much sadness...more happiness would be welcomed but I guess that is something we have to make for ourselves.

Yes /t.'s Maple leaf poem is beautiful and I agree, it does look like patchwork quilt. :-)

the journey ends with you which is what you were looking for all along. i say you are in a love affair already -with poetry and music and beauty

dianne said...

Thank you dearest chickory that is such a lovely thing to say, yes I love expressing my feelings of beauty and painting images with my poetry and the music I choose, but sometimes it does feel like a very lonely journey, but I guess I have to be happy with what I do have.
I haven't given up completely on life, I am excited at the prospect of finding some pale yellow nasturtiums and Summer Brights cosmos for my garden! :-) xoxoxo ♡

chickory said...

no no - im not advocating giving up! i think you should go out to some poetry slams, do some readings and score yourself a beret and goatee wearing beat poet. grrrrrrherhahaha or some sort of basic decent guy with a taste for victorian puffery. (where oh where is our percy blythe shelly? i guess you can always go with j cosmo -just dont tell K9)

hey...want some bright light cosmos seeds? i 'll send you some!

dianne said...

You are so sweet dear chickory, thanks for the offer of bright lights cosmos seeds but please no, our Quarantine laws are very strict with very high penalties, we would both end up in trouble! You are very kind but I shall order them from an Australian based seed company or visit a plant nursery when I can get a chance to have some time for myself. :-)
Yes I should like to meet a decent man who shares my interest in poetry, Victorian puffery, art, trees, birds, the outdoors and gardens, surely there must be someone out there...I have just about given up hope!
Two good choices there, but unfortunately Sir Percy is very much enamoured with the delights of a Lady Dale and there is a Mrs J Cosmo Newbery I believe and Alan Rickman is happily married. :-)

Hi Dianne....all things come to a pass....we are always searching parts of ourselves in the others, and forget to love ourselves.

Your poem is surely about this quest,
i m always touched by your words, i love the way you grow through your explorations.

i know when i come here something will be beautifully human!

Of late i have been busy,
but i hope i'll be able to visit you more often to thankyou for all the lovely posts about life you offer us.
hugs
col

dianne said...

Thank you dearest col I am always pleased to see you here my friend.

I do not feel whole, there is something missing in my life, a lot is missing in my life, not just love. I think my search for that comfort with someone shall be in vain.
We do have to make our own happiness but sometimes it is difficult to find in an ordinary life...but I do find many things of beauty in nature, the trees, the sky, that music I have posted for instance, the world is filled with beauty, we just have to open our eyes and and our hearts to see and feel it.
I hope you are well and not working too hard? I hope I can post something in the future which is worthy of your praise.
hugs
Dianne. xoxo ♡

hmmmmmmm is colin firth available?

dianne said...

Sorry, but no dear chickory , Colin Firth is not available either he too is married.

I am reminded of that quote you wrote about, the one by the actress Dixie Carter, "it takes a very good man to be better than no man at all", maybe one day a very good man shall find me and love me.

My beloved friend,
You're beyond all words and all praise....you're someone whose sweetness makes springtime everywhere....connect to your resilence, and your Springtimes will follow you.

Sadness chokes light with its thick mist, but just the right dose transforms it into the unbelievable.....

hugs to you.

Ms Dianne, a very thoughtful poem. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. The sound of the clock in the corner of my room deafens me sometimes. And then again, sometimes I can't hear it at all. Branka Parlic plays the piano very well. I have always liked the sensitivity of her playing.

I bid you a very good day.

dianne said...

Thank you dearest COL you are very sweet and so very kind to me, the words of your comment flow like a beautiful poem.
Thank you also for your thoughtful advice, you have more faith in me than I have in myself.

hugs to you too.

dianne said...

Thank you dear Alexandre , yes it is a thoughtful poem.
The hours of our lives are not measured by the ticking of a clock, nor the hands moving around its face, we measure it by the moments that we experience and those which pleasantly surprise us. When we are alone we are very aware of the sound of the clock ticking, it resonates and interrupts our thoughts. When we are otherwise diverted or occupied by something we enjoy we don't hear the clock ticking but afterwards sometimes feel that this time has passed too quickly.
Yes, I enjoy the piano playing of Branka Parlic, she puts so much emotion into her performances.

Thank you for your kind wishes, I hope that you too have a fine day.

Hello Diane,

A new week is rising and I guess where You live it is Spring-time - here the cold is hiding around the corner, but I can still catch a glimpse of the sun, now and then.

Wishing You a lovely week

dianne said...

Do you Phossy dear? I am not familiar with his song "Minutes", I have not heard this piece, but many of Philip Glass's other compositions are very beautiful. :) xoxoxo ♡

dianne said...

Thank you dear friend Anna-Lys, yes it is Springtime here. Just lately we have had some unsual weather patterns with thunder storms, dull days, high winds, today was a lovely day with a blue sky, sunshine and many birds chirping and singing.
I am pleased that you can still glimpse the sun, I guess it will be snowing soon and everywhere will be a magical white, hopefully it won't be too cold for you.

I hope you have a lovely week as well.

I've been measuring the hours of my life for a new bay window and some customized shelving units.

(p.s. - By chance, is Philip Glass related to George Glass*? Inquiring pugs want to know.)

Lovely to see you here my sweet, I was beginning to think you did not care any more.
A bay window and some customised shelving units, sounds very nice, are you renovating 'Hacienda La Pug' my sweet?

I'm sorry but I have never heard of George Glass so I don't know if he is related to Philip Glass or not, plus I have never been a fan of the Brady Bunch and I did not know there had been such a film as "A Very Brady Sequel". Sorry I could not be more helpful with your enquiry.

dianne said...

Yes dear /t. , Alan Rickman! I did not like the characters he played in many of his films but I think I fell in love with him when he played the role of Colonel Christopher Brandon in the film 'Sense and Sensibility'.
Unfortunately he would not give me a second glance nor be at all interested, he has been with his partner Rima Horton since 1965.
