Bright Star

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever--or else swoon to death.

John Keats - 1795 - 1821

Yes my dear Sir Percy , I was thinking of your most excellent poetry when I was transcribing the words of Keats to this post, the congruencies of theme, tone and style are profound.
You my sweetest Sir, are a modern day romantic, Keats. xoxoxo ♡

not sure about the poem, but the chick in the photo is a real biscuit!

Yes dear Lesley , it is a beautful poem, John Keats is one of my favourite poets as well.
Such a sad ending when he and Fanny had to part, advised by doctors he left for Rome, a warmer climate because of his tuberculosis, where he died five months later.

It is a wonderful poem Phossy my dear ... and that 'biscuit' of which you speak is Australian actress Abbie Cornish, who is a very beautiful and talented actress. :-)

Yeah, but who's the fella... that's what I want to know? :O)

dianne said...

That would be Ben Whishaw dear Lesley a young English actor, I am old enough to be his Mum, far too young for either of us I should think! :D xoxo ♡

No Phossy dear, not Abbie Normal, Abbie Cornish. I think she could come with any coloured hair you would like, do a Google image search and check her out. ;-)

Star light, star bright
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,

Thank you dearest COL , I think this is a such beautiful poem by Keats, his poems always are, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it.
I have not seen this film either but I am hoping to soon, what a love story, so sad that they had to part because of his ill health and then his death at such a young age.
We should always make the most of the time that we share with someone whom we love, one never knows what fate awaits us, some of us never get the chance to love.

hugs! xoxoxo ♡
