The Memory of Trees

If trees could speak
the stories they could share
Of warm Summer suns
and balmy days
Of grassy meadows
and wild flowers
Their fragrance fills the air
Of soft Summer breezes
the scent of rain
The singing of birds
within their shade
The cool winds of Autumn
when leaves turn to gold
A carpet of amber
the sunset's golden glow
The cold grip of Winter
when branches lay bare
But for a blanket of snow
A time of rest
the chill in the air
The soft rain of Spring
and the new life it brings
New buds of green
and the blossoms they bear
Soon the new shoots
and the leaves appear
Within sheltering branches
creatures protected here
So many sunrises
many a new day
So many sunsets
the closing of each day
So many night skies
filled with stars and the moon
The shadows of moonlight
no two the same
The echoes of laughter
of children now grown
The soft words of lovers
where love was sown
Seasons come and seasons go
and with each new day the cycle renewed
All of these wonders
they have felt and seen
These are, the memories of trees . . .

That was nice writing, but I wanted to add something. What if trees could talk? And communicate to each other? They could share their wisdom of things they learned over their long lives.

Nicely done; it has a lovely rolling along flow to it.

Thanks dear /t.
So pleased that you liked both my poem and the beautiful pic from Des ... I'm sure your trees don't have alzheimers, they are very wise and have good memories ... maybe you should talk to them more, they are great listeners. xoxo ♡

Oh Foamy dear friend you are most eloquent and I am pleased that you could share in the joy I was attempting to convey here.
There are so so many other things of beauty about trees, feelings I would love to describe but sometimes I cannot find the words.
Thank you ... xoxoxo ♡

Do you know I think that trees can speak, but they have their own language and I'm sure they converse with each other and share that great wisdom you have mentioned. xoxoxo ♡

Words raining from the sun, memories one beautiful than the other, all in a cycle of renewal, all so brimming with benedictions....i climb my way to the universe through your beautiful poems, seeking my own trees withn the density of my soul.
Thankyou for this beautiful poem Dianne!!

Beautiful, Dianne. The message of change as constancy and life as change.

I have missed you dear COL , I hope you are well. ♡
Thank you for your lovely praise of my poem, the trees are my inspiration and I know that you too love them as well;they are silent sentinels, so much they have felt, heard and observed, they only sing when the wind rushes through their leaves and branches and that is always a song of wonder.
They cry when they are cut down as they lose their place in the forest where they can touch the sky and lose so many of their animal friends whom they shelter and protect.

I am just so fortunate that I can see and feel all of the beauty they have to offer, they display their beauty whatever the season but who can resist the beauty of the many shades of green leaves in Spring and Summer and the beautiful hues of gold and amber in Autumn...

Love Dianne. xoxoxo ♡

Thank you dear Kathleen
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my poem, yes it is about change as constancy, it is the cycle of life in constant renewal.
We must protect our trees and forests as they are the 'lungs' of the Earth and Rainforests are responsible for seeding the clouds for rainfall. xoxoxo ♡

Lovely to hear from you dear Phossy , I know how you feel, the woods are a wonderful place to be, the size and beauty of the trees seems to put life into perspective ... I love the the fragrance of the forest air, the quiet apart from stirring leaves, the soft sound of each footstep on the forest floor and the songs of birds. xoxoxo ♡
