There is pleasure in the pathless woods

There is pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:

I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.

Lord Byron (George Gordon)

from Childe Harold, Canto iv, Verse 178

Thanks dear Corby

It is a lovely place, I would like to go wandering through this woodland.
I wish it was near me, no it is a photo of a nature reserve in Grady nad Moszczenica, Poland.

I mingled with the Universe once at one of those "mixer" parties. I told the Universe I could rock it's world. It said it wasn't enough.

Hello Puggles my sweet, so nice to see you again, where have you been?
Maybe playing Santa at 'all girls' Christmas office parties? ;)

A "mixer" party, I'm not sure what that is, were you referring to a "singles" party where single people go meet up?
So you were going to rock their world and they said it wasn't enough, well they were underestimating the charm and the charisma of a Pug. xo ♡

The pleasures of quiet reflection, solitude and peace seem to be a fading art.

dianne said...

So true dear J Cosmo and thank you for you for visiting.

I try to find some time each day by looking at or thinking of something of beauty in nature, there is so much to see if you take the time to look or listen... it is my way of relaxing and calming my mind from the pressures of such a busy world. ♡ xo

Byron would have been out of luck in the woods I used to hunt. The brush is thick and tangled - basically no path, no walkie.

Ellie Kings said...

Byron is great isn't he? Love this one. Nature can be a lovely muse.

dianne said...

Phossy my dear, I dont think that Byron ever did any hunting and I think he would have been the kind of person who had a 'man servant' to do those things for him.
I had a photo taken from near where I live, it has plenty of vines, ferns and thick brush but it wasn't quite as pretty as this one. ♡

Thanks Ellie dear, Byron is a favourite of mine, there are many of his poems that I love...and yes nature and all of its beauty is a lovely muse. ♡

I love walking through the forest trails and no trails, but then must take care not to miss.

dianne said...

This is a great poem Leovi and yes it is lovely to walk through the forest trails and to wander and explore where no trail exists but we must be careful that we do not stray too far and lose our way.
