I saw you from the platform
Waved and beckoned you to come
Perhaps you could not see me
Through the bright glare of the sun
The train pulled away slowly
As I watched you disappear
Waving from the window
Until you had gone from view
Such a pity you weren’t with me
It would have been so nice
Some pleasant conversation
Watching fields and trees pass by
The sun shining through the window
From a sky of softest blue
Sunlight moving around the carriage
As the train wound around the bends
So nice to have a companion
Instead of sitting there alone
Such a long journey
All on my own
Soon I drifted into slumber
From the rhythm of the train
A soothing song of movement
As it travelled along the rails
I dreamed that you were with me
And I leaned against your arm
Such a warm, close feeling
So nice to feel you near
Touch always holds a memory
Long after the moment has passed
Something to hold onto
To keep in one's heart
But just as I felt comfortable
I was awoken from my dream
The train had stopped so loudly
As it came to a sudden halt
I had reached my destination
And found I was alone…
