"La Mer" - A song written by French lyricist Charles Trenet (1913-2001).
It is claimed that Trenet wrote the song, together with Leo Chauliac while riding a train in 1943. However, it was not until 1946 that he actually recorded the song.
This is an old song but I love it, I listened to it many times when I was a young girl, it holds memories for me of a time when the pace of life was much slower, quiter and of course, the sea.
I grew up near the sea, its ever changing colours of blue, its white capped waves, the soothing sound of the waves as they lapped the shore and its fresh, cooling breezes . . . I think the words of the song say it all . . . ♥
