I thought you had returned to me
and this time you would stay
But now I find you are missing
once again you have gone away
I am following your footsteps
trying to find the way
To the world that you escape to
the world that takes you away
From the warmth that I offer
from my need for you to stay
How much longer must I hurt
when I look for you each day
A search that brings more questions
all I feel is dismay
No answers can be rendered
all I do is lose my way
I feel lost and disheartened
as I struggle to find my way
Back to a place that is familiar
where I would find you each day
To a time that was so precious
a place we once shared
Can you find it in your heart
to come back to me and stay
For my hope is slowly fading
each time you go away . . .
