Memories of Meadow Flowers

Warm memories
come back to me
of another place in time
I have often thought
of those Summer days
when the sun would always shine
Gathering wildflowers
in the meadows
their fragrance in the air
Walking amidst their beauty
white, soft pink and yellow
colour everywhere
Wearing my old straw bonnet
a rose upon the top
a dress of finest cream calico
a ribbon adorns my hair
Flowers in hand
the bees understand
they are always willing to share
humming a song of happiness
as they buzz throughout the air
This is when I am happiest
days without a care
As I wander on through the meadows
so much beauty everywhere...

Poem by Dianne D ... ♥
Painting: A Meadow Flower - John White Alexander (1912)

  6. This is a very loevely and very visual poem, Dianne. I can imagine myself walking through that meadow .. preferably in Germany or France though. If I was walking through a meadow here I would have my eyes peeled out for snakes.

  7. The bees understand, however do not trust their advice.

  8. I always have this image of me in my mind wearing floral sundress..running freely in a field full of flowers..I don't know when and where it can happen..maybe that's what heaven will look like..and your poem reminds me of that!

  9. Sometimes we remember those moments in life that made us happy.

It is beautiful in a woman with straw hat, walking through a garden of flowers.

I like your thoughts friend Dianne, you write from your heart and I always like.

    Have a nice weekend.

  11. Thank you, pleased that you enjoyed my poem dearest Foamy . Yes somewhere in Europe would be preferable as snakes like frequenting meadows here in Summer. This was a long time ago, in the countryside and I still have the dress packed away somewhere. :)

  12. Don't worry Puglsy my sweet, I am careful with the bees, most times they are friendly and other times they don't like you picking their flowers. Thank you for your comment and for your good advice. :)

  13. Thank your dear HLiza you are very sweet, your image of wearing a floral dress and running through a field of flowers sound so lovely ... maybe it will happen one day but until then using your imagination is also a lot of fun.
It would be nice if heaven was like that, no worries, no cares, just peace and beauty. :)

  64. Thank you dearest K9 ,I am so pleased that you like this poem. I am looking to keep my poems light and happy so that this page is a pleasant place to visit and that the images here also reflect some beauty. I am happy to read that you find some respite here, so sweet of you to say so.
I could quite easily live in my world of imagination and the places I create with my poetry; yes some are places from the past, others from inspiration which I find I am missing lately.

I thoroughly enjoyed your photographs and your narrative and observations of the landscape of your recent trip as seen through your eyes and felt by your ability to see beyond the surface, to connect with your surroundings.
I look forward to seeing your paintings.
