A tree for wishes
For another day
Of love and longings
That will never be
Of hopes and dreams
I shall never see
Such a tree of beauty
Under a sky so blue
So much it has seen
So much she could tell
Of a small folded letter
Carefully concealed
Amongst her branches
Your words to me
Memories from the past
They have cast their spell
Of moonlight longings
Beneath midnight skies
There in the branches
You promised to be
Wishes have travelled
Through space and time
Willing you here
To be close to me
To feel your presence
Next to mine
Amongst moonlit branches
I have waited so long
I feel the breath of the breeze
And hear its soothing song
Waiting in the moonlight
I feel so alone
By the breath of the moon
I hear a sigh
Waiting for a sign
Will you come to me soon
Are you there in the shadows?
You feel so close
Will you ever be with me
Or forever alone?

A lovely wistful poem of longing, Dianne.
ReplyDeletewonder what or who a tree would snuggle up with? Memo to trees: be aware of the creepers and climbers.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Lee ,
ReplyDeleteyes it is a wistful poem, also one of quiet acceptance.

I would snuggle up with a tree dear J Cosmo , I have hugged and climbed many trees in my lifetime. :)
ReplyDeleteSome vines are OK to grow on a tree but not the parasitic kind.

Hey! J Cosmos! Kennedias are a family of creepers and climbers. What are you trying to say?
ReplyDeleteTrue dear Lee Kennedias are very attractive with their pretty red flowers but I guess J Cosmo can compare his name to 'cosmos' which are lovely flowers also, well the possums around her sure think so. :)

Being a Pug, I am partial to trees. However I never feel lonely around a tree, because memories of other canines are conveniently stored on the trunk.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem. It posesses beautiful imagery and sensory descriptions.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the lines:
Of moonlight longings
Beneath midnight skies
ach liebe Dianne, ich habe es gut lesen können, jedes Wort ist mir zu Herzen gegangen...
ReplyDeleteund dein Foto, wieder so schön in Verbindung,
das Leben ist ein Erinnern aber auch ein Weitergehen nach vorn....
liebe Grüße
einen schönen Abend noch
How beautiful poem Dianne ... sure that the tree is yet to be seen beautiful and sweet hopes events as well, kisses.
ReplyDeleteI believe in emotions lasting forever... so I can connect well to this... :)
ReplyDeletethe two trees
ReplyDeleteyour poem is lovely. and i thought you might like this
too..
Sorry Lee, I call it as I see it. And it's Cosmo, not Cosmos. As Dianne so rightly points out, a Cosmos is a flower. Or a universe, i guess.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that you never feel lonely when near a tree Pugsley my sweet, I have an affinity with trees too but not for the same reasons as yourself.
ReplyDeleteBut, I have spent some romantic times under trees or amongst their branches. :)

Thank you dear Paul
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you enjoyed my poem, I write my poems with words from the heart, words that create an image and emotions for others to feel and see.
Yes, I like those two lines myself.

Danke liebe Jasmin , ja es ein Gedicht von Trauer und Verlust ist aber manchmal verlieren wir nie unsere Zuneigung für jemanden oder die Erinnerungen an sie und es ist schwierig, weiterzuziehen.
ReplyDeleteMit Liebe Dianne

Thank you dear Opaque ,
ReplyDeleteyes sometimes, but not often an exceptional person whom we hold with great esteem will come into our life and the effect they have on us is profound and we shall never forget them, or the memory of them.

Thank you dear Foamy , you are very sweet and thoughtful, I love this poem by William Butler Yeats,it is amongst my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI love how Loreena McKennitt has composed the music and the words are now lyrics to her beautiful song.
I posted this song here on my blog quite some time ago as I love trees and the singing of
Ms. McKennitt.

Dear J Cosmo yes a 'cosmos' is beautiful flower and is the Universe ... please don't be too harsh on Lee, I think he just spelt your name incorrectly, but not intentionally. :)
ReplyDeletexoxoxo ♡
i thought that perhaps you had .. :)
ReplyDeleteFoamy dear, I enjoyed listening to the song again, I always do ... thank you for thinking of me.

Thank you dearest col
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thought, yes a tree is a living poem, the beauty in its bark and leaves says so much to us, we can feel its strength and wonder about all that it has seen and felt and it speaks to our hearts.
Yes my tree, though not the one pictured here holds many memories for me; I like to think it has a spiritual presence and I would never harm it. :)
lots of love to you too. xoxoxo ♡
