A Pleasant Land

I often long for gentler climes
A pleasant land with pastel skies
Softest blues with clouds so white
Sunshine with a softer light
Flowers nodding in the breeze
Blooming over grassy fields
Meadows and fields filled with life
A tapestry of greens to delight
Fragrant hedgerows frame them all
Verdant vines dress ancient walls
Country lanes paved with stones
Little milestones guide the way
Grassy meadows with country stiles
Leafy groves to rest a while
Water flowing in rambling streams
Ancient forests abound with trees
Beneath their canopies
A place for dreams ...

Daydreams ...

Sunshine daydreams
In a field of flowers
Such a lovely way
To fill the hours
Lose myself to the rhythms of life
Feel the heartbeat of Nature
A warm breeze stirs the fragrant air
So gently through grasses and flowers
Hear the softness of their song
A symphony of floral fragrance
Floating softly on the air
So much beauty everywhere
Feel the sun kiss my skin
Stay forever without a care ..

Little Dreams

Little dreams
and pretty flowers
Dress the day
with happy hours
Thoughts float away
on gossamer wings
To a place
where hope still sings
Where wishes blossom
from buds to flowers
How I love
these sunny hours...

I Hold You In My Heart ...

Your words to me are not forgot
Left to fade in space and time
For when I think of them they live again
Like flowers blossoming on the page
Their resonance caught in a heartbeat
Alive in the hope of a sigh
Your reflection captured forever
In the mirror of my heart
Though the distance between us is vast
You are never far from my thoughts
I feel your presence close to me
Though we seem destined to be apart
The memories create the poetry
I hold you in my heart ...

Be Patient ...

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will find them gradually, without noticing it, and live along some distant day into the answer.”

Rainer Maria Rilke - 1875-1926 - Letters to a Young Poet

This is my favourite quote of Rainer Maria Rilke, it teaches me patience when I am restless and lost, acceptance when there are no answers to my life's questions. I do live the questions, for many there will never be an answer, but life must go on and I resign myself to this. I cannot always have what I would wish for, though my needs are simple and few. Perhaps in his beautiful words there is a small glimmer of hope for some answers in the days ahead ... perhaps.

Sweet Spring Returns

Sweet Spring has returned
with her gentle grace
An ageless beauty
with her fairest face
She lights the sky
with pastel hues
A palette of white
and softest blues
She dresses the meadows
with flowers fair
Sweet fragrance and colour
everywhere
A warm anticipation
fills the air
As she weaves her touch of beauty
for all to share
She breathes new life
into sleeping trees
Soon to blossom
with new buds and leaves
Her gentle hand of beauty imbued
ensures the cycle of life again, renewed...

My Memory of Spring

The soft morning breeze
Stirs gently through the leaves
And carries with it a song
An overture to Spring
A prelude of feelings
Stir within my heart
Of days remembered
Not forgotten
And the beauty they shall bring
Of sweet flowers blossoming
Their colours soft and bright
A fragrance all pervading
Enhanced by sunlight
Drifting over meadows
Carried on the wind
Over fields and hedgerows
Where nesting birds sing
Such lovely thoughts come to me
Of scents and sights and sounds
A tapestry of beauty
My memory of Spring ...
