I was so very saddened and shocked to hear of the death of Alan Rickman, one of the best-loved and most warmly admired British actors. A wonderful man and magnificent actor playing roles of many characters both in films and on stage, a man with the perfect voice.To me he will always be the kind and honorable Colonel Christopher Brandon in the 1995 screen adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility. Rest in peace dear Alan, you will be forever in our hearts, your legacy eternal.

ReplyDeleteHello sweet friend Lucia, it is terribly sad that he has gone, I am so sad, one of my favourite actors, he had such a presence and had so much more to offer. I hope he did not suffer for too long with the cancer.
ReplyDeleteI watched my DVD of Sense and Sensibility last night and could not stop crying. He would have been 49 years when he made this film, he was so handsome and wonderful as the kind character Colonel Brandon.

Thank you dear friend Giga , yes a great loss to the world of actors and all of us who became admirers of his great performances. I think I fell a little in love with him as the character of Colonel Brandon, his gentleness in this part has stayed with me always and as I am a true romantic I feel some emptiness because of his loss.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the links, some memorable scenes from "Sense and Sensibility", moments which I truly love. I watched my DVD on Friday evening and it brought back so many memories, I was very emotional and in tears. The "Dust" short film shows the versatility of his acting, he says so much without speaking.
I have been watching some film clips this morning from his many films, his performances are brilliant, his dancing is amazing and the romantic scenes, tender and beautiful, those kisses...sigh!
