Winter's Fragrance

Sweet is the fragrance
Which scents the air
Exotic and tropical
Its perfume beguiles
My thoughts are carried
To warmer climes
Belying the chill
Of a Winter’s afternoon…

Prose - Dianne Dawes ...♥

These photographs were taken in my garden this afternoon. They are the creamy-white blossoms of Michelia Doltsopa “Silver Cloud”, a compact form of the Michelia genus and also a member of the Magnolia family. The shrub is evergreen, flowering profusely from late Winter to early Spring. The flowers have a delicate tropical, lemon scent; the wood is also fragrant. Please enlarge the images.
