As she wandered without umbrella
She had one stolen no doubt
That morning from a friend.
Running to her rescue,
I offered her a little shelter
To dry the water from her cheeks
With a gentle whisper she said ‘Yes’.
A little corner of umbrella
Against a corner of paradise
She was something of an angel
A little corner of paradise
Against a corner of umbrella
Could this moment stay forever.
Along the way, it was tender
To hear together the pretty song
Of water from the sky falling
On the top of my umbrella.
I'd have prayed at that moment
For a never ending downfall
To keep her under my refuge
Forty days and forty nights.
A little corner of umbrella

She was something of an angel

But sadly, even in storms
Roads eventually lead to homes
Soon her's will reach that dam
At the height of my foolishness.
She tells me that she must leave
After she kindly says many thanks
And I saw her disappear very small
Into the distance, into forgetfulness.

(It was song about his wife Natacha who had helped contribute to his music of Amelie. A few years earlier, he had composed the music for a 1998 film of hers, called in English 'The Dreamlife of Angels')

Thank you dear one for your kindness and for the link and the lyrics, I have loved this song for a very long time. I have it amongst my collection of music and songs by Yann Tiersen.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely, romantic moment but it ended too soon. They both have such sweet voices.
I composed this little piece of prose for you, to hopefully remove some of the sadness from your heart.
