Words Beyond the Page

Thoughts of you come to me
When I think of days gone by
Many summer suns have passed
Since our words danced on the page
Like the beauty of rambling vines
Our thoughts became entwined
And a garden of sweetest words
Soon blossomed beyond the page
Your words were sincere and tender
And I responded in kind
How I miss those sweetest days
When I hoped you would be mine
But not all dreams last forever
Just memories from that time
Now our garden has sadly wilted
Neglected beauty left behind ...

  10. Thank you dear HLiza for your thoughtful comment. There are only sweet memories here, no bitterness and a friendship still exists ... no expectations of anything more, so I guess you could say that I have moved on.

  11. Thanks dear J Cosmo for your comment, that is so true ...
A friend said to me recently that we all need to be loved and feel wanted, just like a flower who needs water and care to survive, if it is neglected if can wither and die.
Just like the the last two lines in my poem, it was a metaphor for love and friendship and if it is neglected it won't survive.
    Have a lovely Sunday.

love Jasmin , thank you for your thoughtful comment, I am pleased that you enjoyed my poem and the image of the beautiful rose.
Yes love and friendship should come from both, otherwise it just does not work and neither can be forced ... it either happens or it doesn't.
Yes my recollections are sweet, disappointment is not.
I have been alone now for such a long time so I don't expect love shall ever find me again, but true friendship is important to me.
Love and best wishes from, Dianne

  19. Thank you dear Pugsley my sweet, I could have written "our words 'met' or 'embraced' on the page" or perhaps another verb as there are many but I chose 'danced' because I liked it.
I hope that the "medical" marijuana that you have planted will make your words dance anywhere ... but don't forget to take care of the plants otherwise they might wilt and die and the quality might not be so good. Always nice to hear from you! :)

  23. Foamy , dear friend, I have been watering some plants that I have in pots also as it has been so warm and sunny here and it does not take much for them to dry out and wilt.
We had some rain yesterday and again tonight so that will be good for the garden.
