So Far Away . . .

We moved through life

Together

With similar hopes

But on separate paths

Like parallel dreams

So close, but apart

Never touching

Our paths crossed

Only in spirit

For a time

Our words met

And were bound with each other

They danced together

For a while

On the page

But now you are gone

So far away

No goodbye

Your words faded from our page

Leaving a deep void

That no other's words can fill

Our final destinations

So far from each other

So far away ...

  1. i know this is based on loosing a friend, but i really love how you achieve a sense of disappearing and fading in your last two passages.
do know that i hate that your inspiration comes from your sense of loss, but it's made for some beautiful poems.

  4. Thank you dearest Foamy , yes it is written from loss, I am still trying to accept this, the words come straight from my feelings... I guess there is some beauty in writing about our feelingd of loss.
I was reading some of our correspondence from happier days, it is precious to me, even though now it has no meaning but it is a memory of a time that I do not want to lose.
It reminded me once again of how much I miss him and that I will never have a friend quite like him again.
How lovely it would be to write about feelings of happiness, of being wanted and loved, it would make a pleasant change.

I love your 'chicken' avatar, it is very well drawn and so cute. :)

If I did not have this experience then I could not have written such a heart felt poem ... I am sure many have felt this way in their hearts from loss and sadness but how lovely it would be to write about happiness instead, a happy ending and no silence and distance between us.
Thank you for your thoughtful and kind wishes.
    Warm wishes and greetings, Dianne.

  9. I love this poem evoke a few words what life is like, people are like that cross paths, some once, others several times or many, but it is difficult to walk the same path, not to say that is impossible. A hug

  10. Thank you dear Leovi for your thoughtful words.People don't have to walk the same path but they can choose to walk their own paths side by side, on the same journey and with the same destination in sight.

just a week left in college. Will go to home. And in a month will be joining new job. So just too short a time to do a lot of things. Wanted to post something, but not able to get enough time to sit and think. Hope I get sometime before I leave for home.
    Take care

I am pleased that you enjoyed my poem, I write exactly how I am feeling, the sadness the disappointment and try to put it into some kind of semblance of meaning so that it can be understood and the emotion felt.
Thank you for coming here to comment when you are so busy, I always appreciate your lovely comments.
Just a week left of college and then home, that time has passed so quickly...you have worked very hard, enjoy the break.

  14. Yes dear J Cosmo , I guess we do, it is just that some of our paths are closer and we actually connect for a time, sometimes from the first time we meet.

  21. You know Dianne, your poem tell the whole truth of what is happening now in this blogworld that we're enjoying now..me and you and the others sharing things we have, thinking alike and giving strength to each other without ever meeting personally (well I met Lee Kennedy once; but not long enough)..have you ever thought of what may come when we leave from this world..the blog still lingers without new posts; maybe readers will feel like what you feel at the end of the poem..just a thought that pops up in my mind..

  23. Thank you dear HLiza yes I have often thought of the friends I have made here without ever meeting any of you. I am always so grateful for all of the comments, the advice and the thoughtful support that you all give me.
I have wondered if my words will stay here when I leave this Earth and if someone will read them one day and feel how I am feeling and perhaps help them in some way ... that is a lovely thought HLiza, you are a special person.

  31. Yes, we move forward, sometimes retained behind, yet roads open, many roads....some we may pass by whilst being on someother...we work our way through the gates of Life to where it takes us!
i love the way you deliver this poem!
    thanks a lots Dianne!

  32. Yes dear col we try to move forward but if there is someone there who is precious to us we will always look back trying to recapture those moments when our paths crossed and we felt their warmth and happiness...but as their words fade on the page and a chill sets in we must try to forget and look for a new page and another path.
These words were straight from my heart.
    love Dianne
